These are our most technically demanding mountain bike holidays, generally on singletrack, dirt roads and jeep tracks, with the vehicle support not always able to follow the riders. A hardtail mountain bike with suspension forks, or a full suspension cross-country bike is required. As the name suggests, knobbly off-road tyres are also needed. Most trips involve a journey such as Morocco's Atlas Traverse Trip or the Pokhara to Kathmandu mountain bike ride in Nepal. However, some of these mountain bike holidays have more of a day-ride format from a single base or a number of bases, like Guatemala's Ride on the Wild Side.
