Arguably the world's finest game viewing is to be found in northern Tanzania. Within the parks here there is a good chance of spotting the big five elephant, rhino, leopard, buffalo and lion. Wildebeest herds are visible over the plains, and cheetahs, giraffe, zebra and hyena are also likely candidates to be spotted whilst out in the vehicles. Overnight accommodation is in quality lodges or camps and 4WD vehicles with viewing hatches are used for the guided game drives. For anyone who is visiting this part of the world the opportunity to see some of the most exciting wildlife should not be missed.
In Tarangire National Park, where we start our safari adventure, we are likely to see a number of elephants and migratory wildebeest (depending on the time of year) as well as zebra, buffalo, impala and eland. Predators include the tree climbing lions and leopards. Moving on from here we stop overnight at Lake Manyara National Park before driving to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater where we look down into this immense conservation area. Once on the crater floor in our vehicles, we may spot rhino amidst the sea of yellow flowers and a mirage of pink from the flamingos on the lake. The Ngorongoro Crater really is an intense African wildlife experience and you are unlikely to witness such a concentration of animals anywhere else. This excellent extension can be added to any of our East African adventures. Typically, an additional hotel night will be needed prior to setting off on the safari and on the third day you will return to your hotel, freshen up and then transfer to the airport in time for your return flight.
