With over 200 holidays to choose from, KE Adventure Travel has one of the very best collections of trekking and walking holidays worldwide. Graded on a scale from 1 to 12, we have holidays to suit everyone. Our tougher treks are likely to involve multi-day hikes through wilderness regions, with porter support and tented accommodation. Whilst at the other end of the scale, our softer walking holidays are more likely to be hotel or lodge-based with a day-walk format and an emphasis on uncovering the area's history, culture and cuisine.
From our earliest days we've developed a range of treks that include celebrated classics such as Peru's Inca Trail trek, the ascent of Tanzania's Kilimanjaro and the ever popular Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal. Alongside these, we have always made it a priority to seek out distinctive and unique itineraries in less familiar areas such as Armenia, Cameroon, Madagascar and Burma.
Whichever of our trekking or walking holidays you choose to undertake, you can be sure you'll enjoy breaking out of your day-to-day routine and exploring exotic landscapes on foot, with the chance to experience different cultures.
All of our treks and walks include the services of a professional leader or local guide, selected on the basis of his or her experience and leadership skills. When trekking in Nepal, you could be accompanied by an experienced Sherpa guide or a seasoned Western traveller and mountain leader. In Patagonia, you'll have an English-speaking local guide and in Madagascar, it will be a wildlife specialist.
Group sizes are limited to a maximum of 16 to allow easier interaction with the local people and to leave fewer footprints in a world where it is important that we are environmentally aware. Many clients are solo travellers, whilst others are couples or groups of friends, with a mix of male and female and a range of different ages.
Our Alpine holidays include famous walks like the best sections of the Tour du Mont Blanc and other classic walks in the Mont Blanc area which use chalet, lodge and gite accommodation. We also have hut-to-hut hiking holidays in France, Switzerland, Italy and Austria. Elsewhere in Europe, we have lots of options, from Corsica to Crete and from Montenegro to Madeira.
Albania, Armenia, Romania, Bulgaria and Georgia are amongst a growing number of emerging destinations in eastern Europe. The rudimentary tourist infrastructure in all these countries is generally developing and if you want to see these places with their cultures intact, the time to go is now! Scandinavia is also home to some great walking and trekking holidays - from Norway's Jotunheimen and Lofoten regions, to Iceland and even Greenland.
Trekking in Nepal will give you a chance to hike to Everest Basecamp or to trek the famous circuit of the Annapurna Mountains. To allow you the flexibility of choice, we offer both lodge-based and camping options for our trekking holidays in the more popular parts of Nepal. It's this great combination of choice, sense of accomplishment and fantastic landscapes that make our holidays so special.
Walking in Morocco is becoming increasingly popular on account of the country's obvious attractions. Morocco has great mountain ranges, an exotic culture and unbeatable accessibility, with many low-cost airlines now operating to Marrakech. Our holidays here are mostly a week-long and benefit from some of the best local guides and trekking crews that you will find anywhere. Further south in the African continent, we have a wide range of relatively little-known adventures in Ethiopia, Rwanda and Uganda, as well as offering a choice of trekking routes on Africa's highest mountain - you can Climb Kilimanjaro on at least 6 different KE holidays.
In South America we offer several hikes on the Inca Trail, as well as other Peruvian treks that each include the chance to visit the magnificent Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. Our Choquequirao trek is a great alternative to the Inca Trail and amongst our other stand-out treks in Peru, there are the Cordillera Blanca Traverse and the Huayhuash Circuit. We also have walking and trekking holidays in a host of other fascinating Latin American countries - Colombia. Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile, to name just a few of them.
If you are looking for a walking or trekking holiday, we are confident that you will find several that suit you amongst our wide selection. We are acknowledged experts when it comes to setting up and running adventure holidays and our staff are amongst the most experienced in the business. If you contact the KE office, you can speak to someone who has first-hand experience of the holiday that you are interested in - and that can really help you decide if the holiday is right for you.
