Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek via the French Pass
By: Alex Vogler, United States
Val is a great trip leader, with lots of knowledge of the Nepalese people. I like the fact that this trip was not overly commercialized. The views and scale of the mountains we saw was impressive. The day over the french pass is one of the best days of hiking I've ever had. Another great day was the walk through the forest to Chartare.
Viva Gran Canaria
By: Robert & Helen Evers, Worcestershire, UK
Really good introduction to the beauty and landscape of Gran Canaria. Size of group really beneficial in terms of gauging length of walks and start/finish times for treks. Would recommend this holiday to anyone interested in seeing more than the beaches of Gran Canaria.
Raymond very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and very understanding of group requirements. Really benefitted from his local knowledge to be able to explore off the beaten track trails. very attentive with regards to travel arrangements and pickup points for airport journeys.
Thoroughly enjoyed the variety of trails completed. Enjoyed using locally recommended restaurants and bars.
Peaks and Valleys of Jebel Sirwa
By: Geoff Brunskill, Cumbria, UK
A well paced short trek. Most enjoyed the varied scenic contrasts between arid and fertile landscapes
Edge of Sahara Trek
By: Stefanie Lauer, Scotland, UK
First time traveller with KE and VERY impressed.
Hassan (the guide) is a total legend!!! Especially when he was hammering new pegs into the hard ground when the wind was about to pick up each and every tent and blow it towards Algeria... Hard worker, our comfort and enjoyment was always guaranteed. The support crew was fantastic. I don't have sufficient words to express the outstanding customer service experienced with Aventure Berbere!
Thanks for pointing out the waterproofs - we actually needed them! Spot on!
Angel Falls and trekking to the Lost World
By: Paul Willetts, Bristol
I can't speak highly enough of Bennette and also the support crew for the trek. He was kind, knowledgeable and very quickly appreciated the needs/pace of our group. His local knowledge for the Roraima/Canaima part of the trip was invaluable and made everything run smoothly. On the trek itself, all the porters were very helpful and the food was as good as you would find in most restauarants.
I didn't really have any expectations of this holiday, but it was fantastic - a great blend of trekking, sightseeing and the last couple of days on Los Roques was magical.
Trekking Guatemalas Magnificent Seven
By: Maureen O'Sullivan, Dublin, Ireland
Superb holiday - sorry it had to come to an end, but I loved Guatemala and all I experienced there andn it exceeded my expectations. This was a fantastic, absolutely fantastic holiday - gorgeous scenery, lovely people, great leaders and good varied food, beautiful climate and excellent vistas. the pace was pretty quick and, in retrospect, a bit more down-time in Antigua and at lake Atitlan would have been lovely, but there was a lot of trekking to complete and we did it all, which was also great! The team of four Juan, Oscar, Lisa and Nico were a lovely group - very easy-going and yet on the ball in terms of keeping the show rolling smoothly. Despite the earthquake while we were there, we didn't have to cancel any aspect of the trip and this undoubtedly because the folks, especially Juan were able to rearrange things with many behind the scenes efforts. the bus drivers were excellent and skillfully got us from A to B without fail even across some challenging terrain.
Need more emphasis on recommmended warm gear to bring - this should be on the essential list - I was cold in my tent at night and this need not have been the case - the extremes in temperature should be emphasised - probably 30oC variation from noon heat to night-time lows. This would have helped in planning the packing.
Ethiopian Explorer - Trekking the Simien Mountains
By: Giles Staddon, West Midlands, UK
The food was amazing. Chef and all the crew could not have been better! Philemon was a great trip leader, friendly, approachable and knowledgeable.
The trip exceeded expectations. Amazing country. Can't recommend it highly enough. Fantastic scenery and incredible wildlife close at hand.
Everest Panorama Trek
By: Joyce Hsu, Edison, USA
The Local Agent, Passang, is outstanding. He is exceptionally helpful to the participants. He is also an expert photographer and has taken many great pictures for the participants. I believe he has significantly contributed to the success of the trip.
Lhakpa is a wonderful trip leader and he is very attentive to the participants and the support staff. Lhakpa's English is outstanding and he has a great sense of humor. The porters are also terrific. They have provided us with great services.
Most enjoyed - The view of Mount Everest and the landscape of Nepal.
Madeira Walking Week
By: Judith Thorp, Derbyshire, UK
Victor made this experience very easy and comfortable for me. He is exceptionally knowledgeable about his island and answered innumerable questions on a daily basis. Nothing was left to chance. As a trip leader he is superb.
I enjoyed being part of the group and the villages and small towns we stayed in were interesting. The Atlantic swell and rock pools in Paul do Mar were exhilirating.I particularly enjoyed the walks following the lavadas (without the steep descents!!!)
The Original Everest Basecamp Trek from Jiri
By: Stuart Beverley, Plymouth, UK
Most enjoyed the stunning views of all the mountains whilst walking along; the good humour of all the support team, no matter what the length of day or weather conditions.
