Winter Wonderland - Sweden Family Adventure
By: Elizabeth A Wickham, Kent, UK
was an action-packed programme of activities which provided everyone with new
and exciting experiences. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and the
food was typically regional and beautifully presented.
This was an ideal family adventure holiday, with a varied and lively programme of activities, which provided us all (aged 8 to nearly 70) with new and exciting experiences.
We loved venturing out into the vast Arctic winterland on snowmobiles, fishing through holes in the thick ice on a lake, hurtling along the forest tracks on husky-drawn sleighs (everyone's favourite activity), snow-shoeing at night and again in the daytime for a forest picnic (our optional add-on for the last day), learning about the Sami way of life from a reindeer herder, visiting the famous Ice Hotel - well, everything!
Mont Blanc Snow Shoe Week
By: Russell Jefford, Buckinghamshire, UK
The quantity & quality of info on the website & trip dossier are real selling points - all looks very professional and creates a good impression and builds anticipation. The kind of nerd (like me) who reads technical swing tickets on goretex jackets laps up this kind of thing...
Arctic Wilderness Week Finland
By: Candida Tingey, Bedfordshire, UK
The holiday was wonderful. The huskie drives and over night stay in the wilderness cabin made it. The guide on our huskie tour was so good and took care of us so that we could enjoy the experince of the whole thing. I most enjoyed the huskies, the wilderness cabin and of coures the northen lights, which blessed us on that night. KE have got it right! Thank you KE for putting together such good holidays, we are glad we found your company.
Grand Traverse of the Jura Ski Tour
By: Martin Ferguson, Herfordshire, UK
The trip exceeded my expectations - the leader, the group, the accommodations, the food, the skiing, the scenery.
Julia, our guide, was outstanding in her attention to everyone and to every detail. We had complete confidence in her, while she engendered confidence in everyone and their ability to tackle the sometimes challenging conditions and terrain. She developed an excellent rapport with each group member and the team as a whole.
The trip benefited from a diverse range of types and characters of accommodation - from mountain chalets to small, family run hotels - all adds to the interest! Lots of opportunity to try local cuisine and fresh produce, while those with special dietary needs were well catered for.
Slovenia Snow Spectacular
By: Jerry Fenner, Dorset, UK
I enjoyed pretty much all of it - I would have loved a longer time with the dogs. Our guide coped well with a group that was quite diverse in abilities and fitness levels - from a young one, very fit, and naturally sporty to us older ones!
School Climb - Mt Toubkal in Winter
By: Ruth Pettit, Lancaster Royal Grammar School
This trip was even better than I expected. We had perfect weather conditions for the ascent of Toubkal, so that was the highlight. The quality of the food was far beyond my expectations, both in Marrakech and in the mountains. The local guide was brilliant. The travel arrangements were smooth and clearly well-arranged.Mustapha, our local guide in Morocco, was superb. We couldn't have asked for a more personable, knowledgeable and careful guide to look after our school party. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He interacted very well with all members of the team.
Inside the Arctic Circle - Skiing the Kings Trail
By: Lauren Andreson, Leicestershire, UK
The leader contributed greatly to the satisfaction of the trip. His enthusiasm for being in nature and for the area was evident. Everything was well organised, he looked after us well, and it was great things were not too regimented it felt we had a bit of freedom in the trip also. I heard about it through Green Traveller. I liked the idea of a challenging holiday. I picked the company as it suited my skiing ability and thought it would include a group of similar ability. I liked the addition of the dog team with other holidays did not include.
Pyrenees Snowshoe High Level
By: Mike Rooke, Isle of Wight, UK
Our guide John Howie was an exceptional leader. Good natured, attentive to all members of the group and a great host round the evening meal table. Given the appalling snow conditions (too much!) and the risk of avalanche, John revamped the itinerary that made the very best of a bad job. A credit to KE.
Fantastic grub. We were spoilt.
Central Pyrenees Snowshoe Week
By: Harriet Harris, Cambridge, UK
I was new to snowshoeing and to the region, so got a lot out of the holiday, despite the weather! But better too much snow than too little. Our leader was a fit, capable and very experienced mountain leader, with the sensitivity to adapt the demands to a fairly elderly group. His knowledge of the region is excellent. Every effort was made to find interesting activities for us daily, under very difficult conditions of too much snow.
I thought we were going to be more in a ski resort, and in a more standard "ski" chalet. We were buried in the country and the chalet environment was shaped by our leader's own interests and personality. A good holiday. The chalet is isolated in the country, which was very relaxing: reading books and chatting round the fire in the evenings, which suited me fine. We got out daily and I'm assured that the snow conditions made the snowshoeing particularly difficult - and hard work. I certainly hope to snowshoe again! And could re-visit the same region again very happily.
