Arctic Wilderness Week Finland
By: Candida Tingey, Bedfordshire, UK
The holiday was wonderful. The huskie drives and over night stay in the wilderness cabin made it. The guide on our huskie tour was so good and took care of us so that we could enjoy the experince of the whole thing. I most enjoyed the huskies, the wilderness cabin and of coures the northen lights, which blessed us on that night. KE have got it right! Thank you KE for putting together such good holidays, we are glad we found your company.
Trekking Mount Toubkal in Winter
By: Gwen Buchan, London, UK
A fantastic way to spend a week - this is a real little gem of a holiday. Absolutely solid support from the local agent. A great double act from KE Leader Tom and our guide Hossein in the mountains and Tom's stories kept us all entertained throughout. Exceptionally good food throughout the trip - better in the Refuge than the restaurants of Marrakech.
Grand Traverse of the Jura Ski Tour
By: Karen Lunquist-Leach, USA
The entire experience was fabulous and well worth the cost. Snow was excellent and it was so fun to ski up to our accomodations and then take off the next morning right from the door step! Loved all the places we stayed and the food was delicious.
Our guide Julia was excellent in all ways - she was very knowledgeable, friendly, skilled (provided lots of ski instruction along the way), helpful and in many ways. She was very organized and the trip ran smoothly despite a number of challenges. It was what I excepted.
I was initially concerned about being able to ski 14-20 miles/day, but it was fun and a good challenge for me.
Iceland's Volcanic Ski Tour
By: Tony Sturdee, Warwickshire, UK
The hut experience was most enjoyable, good food and company, we were an interesting mixed group. The skiing was fun when the winds were light and we could see. And the hot springs were an essential feature of day's end!
Weather described as challenging in the dossier. It was, but the best was made of it. The food in the hut was excellent, as was the stuff to make lunches and I much enjoyed the lashings of salmon etc!
Inside the Arctic Circle - Skiing the Kings Trail
By: Karen Venables, Northwood, Greater London
I had an excellent holiday and will be back for more. The husky teams were great. Jorg was an excellent leader, he built a sense of unity amongst those on the holiday in the way he divided the group for jobs, he offered encouragement and knew how to make us do more and also when to stop. He and Soren were caring about our health and remembered and checked on issues (even blisters!). Soren had a wealth of information about the location and stories to tell about the local area. I most enjoyed the challenge, the teamwork and the scenery, and the Northern Lights were spectacular.
High Level Pyrenees Snowshoe Holiday
By: Mike Rooke, Isle of Wight, UK
Our guide John Howie was an exceptional leader. Good natured, attentive to all members of the group and a great host round the evening meal table. Given the appalling snow conditions (too much!) and the risk of avalanche, John revamped the itinerary that made the very best of a bad job. A credit to KE.
Fantastic grub. We were spoilt.
Central Pyrenees Snowshoe Week
By: Harriet Harris, Cambridge, UK
I was new to snowshoeing and to the region, so got a lot out of the holiday, despite the weather! But better too much snow than too little. Our leader was a fit, capable and very experienced mountain leader, with the sensitivity to adapt the demands to a fairly elderly group. His knowledge of the region is excellent. Every effort was made to find interesting activities for us daily, under very difficult conditions of too much snow.
I thought we were going to be more in a ski resort, and in a more standard "ski" chalet. We were buried in the country and the chalet environment was shaped by our leader's own interests and personality. A good holiday. The chalet is isolated in the country, which was very relaxing: reading books and chatting round the fire in the evenings, which suited me fine. We got out daily and I'm assured that the snow conditions made the snowshoeing particularly difficult - and hard work. I certainly hope to snowshoe again! And could re-visit the same region again very happily.
Winter Wonderland - Sweden Family Adventure
By: Elizabeth A Wickham, Kent, UK
was an action-packed programme of activities which provided everyone with new
and exciting experiences. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and the
food was typically regional and beautifully presented.
This was an ideal family adventure holiday, with a varied and lively programme of activities, which provided us all (aged 8 to nearly 70) with new and exciting experiences.
We loved venturing out into the vast Arctic winterland on snowmobiles, fishing through holes in the thick ice on a lake, hurtling along the forest tracks on husky-drawn sleighs (everyone's favourite activity), snow-shoeing at night and again in the daytime for a forest picnic (our optional add-on for the last day), learning about the Sami way of life from a reindeer herder, visiting the famous Ice Hotel - well, everything!
Slovenia Snow Spectacular
By: Jerry Fenner, Dorset, UK
I enjoyed pretty much all of it - I would have loved a longer time with the dogs. Our guide coped well with a group that was quite diverse in abilities and fitness levels - from a young one, very fit, and naturally sporty to us older ones!
Mont Blanc Snow Shoe Week
By: Russell Jefford, Buckinghamshire, UK
The quantity & quality of info on the website & trip dossier are real selling points - all looks very professional and creates a good impression and builds anticipation. The kind of nerd (like me) who reads technical swing tickets on goretex jackets laps up this kind of thing...
