One Week Haute Route - Mont Blanc to Matterhorn
By: Hamish Parkinson, Powys, Wales
The trek was challenging, but it was a fantastic experience to be amongst the high alpine peaks. Our guide, Richard, was extremely helpful and professional in his approach. Other than the weather it is difficult for me to suggest any improvements!
Gran Paradiso Summits - Trek the Alps of Italy
By: Marcus Crompton, Cheshire, UK
in all, I would say that this is the most enjoyable holidays I have had with KE
or any other operator. A large part of my total satisfaction with the holiday is
down to Kathy Murphy's skills and abilities as a leader for which I am more than
Most enjoyable aspects - The variety of terrain and scenery, the wildlife, the ongoing instruction in skills on different kinds of terrain, the company, fun and friendship. The wine was pretty good too!
I can't suggest anything to improve this one, it is a superb trip.
Trekking Mount Toubkal in Winter
By: Steven Mark Vickerage, Ratby, Leicestershire
The pace on Toukbal was in-line with our slowest member - a lesson that could and should have been learned by other teams that sprinted past near the summit but all with ash-grey faces. A fantastic trip with the summit of Ouanoukrim the highlight.
Classic Haute Route - High Alpine Trekking
By: Rob Lawson, Birmingham, UK
Kathy did a great job both organising the trip and as our guide for the first three days. Libby was excellent guiding the rest of the trip, particularly as this was the first time she had led this trek.
The scenery was spectacular; the trip exceeded my expectations.
Ecuador's Volcano Triple Crown
By: Marina Quayle, Twickenham, UK
I don't know where to start. I enjoyed it all. It is by far the best trip of this kind that I have done. The choice of hotels was excellent. The itinerary was varied and interesting and the support on the mountains was brilliant. The food was excellent too as was the transport. It was better than I hoped. It was my first time travelling on my own so I was quite anxious at the beginning of the trip. After only a day I felt very much at home and comfortable with the group and guide. Diego was an excellent guide and was very much liked and respected by the group. I heard about KE from some people I met on another trip. They highly recommended it.
Across the Julian Alps to Triglav
By: Tove Illing, Norway
Ales was a very relaxed tour leader, sometimes well ahead of the group, but certainly very service minded when arriving at the huts explaining all facilities, hassling along food service etc. His guiding on climbing Triglav was very good and highly responsible.
The trek in Triglav National Park was lovely with beautiful montain scenery. Not sure I particularly enjoyed climbing Triglav..., but feels like a great achievement!
Peaks and Passes of Nepal - Mera to the Rolwaling
By: Martin Plackett, London, UK
I most enjoyed the exciting summit ridge on Island Peak, the wonderful ice formations on the Amphu Labtsa, the views of Everest & Makalu from the Renjo La, the lakes below the Kongma La, the Omai Tsho sacred lake in the Rolwaling and Zomba's tuna pizza & chips!
,br/>Ade made some good changes to the itinerary, eg Kongme Dingma is a better place for rest day/training than Panch Pokhari, Scoundrel's View was a more interesting excursion than Everest Base Camp and it was better for members & crew to press on the Thame & have a rest day than stop short at Lungdung. It was also good to have a rest day at Na in the Rolwaling, and gave some of us the opportunity for a beautiful walk to the Omai Tsho sacred lake. And the bus pickup below Simigaon saved a lot of time, compared with walking to Singati. One further detail on itinerary: it refers to packing mountain bags at Khare on Day 10 - this should be at Mera La on Day 11.
Monte Rosa Climb
By: Whitney Tinley, Decatur, USA
Owen was wonderful! A very thoughtful, helpful guide. When weather prevented us from going up Mt. Rosa, Owen found alternate excursions for us. I truly feel that he was part of what made the trip great. I enjoyed my guide, the huts, and the hotel in Zermatt.
Mexico Volcano Climber
By: Peter Sinclair, Inverness, Scotland
The trip was tougher
than I expected but great experience on challenging mountains.
Accomodation at our base was superb. Both our American guides were great fun and company throughout the trip. They did everything in their power to ensure a successful trip.
Italian High Level Trek
By: A R Oldham, Ludlow, England
Kathy Murphy (head guide), an excellent professional. A special thanks to Murray Hamilton for his calm and reassuring professionalism also. What I most enjoyed? Being amongst the high hills and the descent down the Grenz Gletcher was particularly spectacular. Also the final days walk was extraordinary in the amount and variety of Alpine flowers that we passed along the way, a great many, never seen before by ourselves and from a gardeners point of view. A great itinerary, and stunning situations.
