Across the Julian Alps to Triglav
By: Tove Illing, Norway
Ales was a very relaxed tour leader, sometimes well ahead of the group, but certainly very service minded when arriving at the huts explaining all facilities, hassling along food service etc. His guiding on climbing Triglav was very good and highly responsible.
The trek in Triglav National Park was lovely with beautiful montain scenery. Not sure I particularly enjoyed climbing Triglav..., but feels like a great achievement!
Kilimanjaro Trek and Safari
By: Anthony Hextall, Staffordshire, UK
The trek guides/porters were excellent. If I could recommend those guys for some sort of award, I would. The hygiene, care, attention, food quality were all excellent.
Mera Peak Climb
By: Margaret Young, Scotland
We both loved the holiday. We both had a fantastic time and would love to go back to the area again - so many other places to see. Really enjoyed the countryside and the views whilst in the mountains. We thought the time for acclimatisation was better than other companies. We have travelled with you before (Ecuador in 2009) and felt you provided good service.
Trekking Mount Toubkal in Winter
By: William Maxwell, Paisley, UK
We enjoyed all of it. Marrakech was tremendous and we opted to spend an extra day there. The trekking was exactly what we expected - several longish days in the mountains. the two mountain ascents were tremendous with plenty of snow, blue skies and sun.
Our guide, Mustapha, was outstanding and a superb ambassador for KE. He is a leader who smoothly and efficiently organised the trek, managed the support crew well and carefully managed the expectations of those on the trek who were less fit than the majority. His enthusiasm for the Mgoun trek was infectious and we are interested in that trek for next year.
We had superb fun. Excellent opportunity to practice crampon and ice axe work without having to learn glacier rescue.
Comparison with the other companies showed that KE approached this trek gradually with an initially day walk which gave Mustapha an opportunity to assess our fitness. then we ascended to the Refuge followed by two days of trekking to the tops. The other companies went straight for the tops without that initial 'warm-up' day. We preferred KE.
Mount Khuiten - Mongolia
By: Mark Aitken, Stirlingshire, UK
All of the pre- trip information from the KE office was all thoroughly good (as usual). Superb! - best KE trip I have been on (out of my 6 previous KE trips - which were all very good too). Thanks KE! Adrian was a really good leader, very knowledgeable, and also particularly very good and enjoyable company in the mountains. Thoroughly enjoyed this trip - from start to finish - all superb. Thought the free entrance to the culture show and museums and also good restaurants was a really nice touch by KE. And the mountain experience was SUPERB!
Mont Blanc Ascent with Gran Paradiso
By: Albert Donatio, United States
Olly is a great leader. He took extra caution with us during the entire trip. He made sure all ropes were securely fastened before scaling the rock faces and glacial traverses. He gave us instructions about how to proceed carefully and encouraged us along the way.
Climbing the Cosmique in Chamonix after failing to summit Mt Blanc due to unfavorable weather conditions was the hightlight of the trip. It more than made up for that dissapointment. The Cosmique was extremely challenging and I was outside of my comfort zone, but it was a 5 hour andrenaline surge of climbing rocks, snow and ice. One of my all time favorite alpine experiences.
The Yeti lodge was a great place to hang out for a few days. Marine and Jason took good care of us and kept us well fed. Great views from the balcony. Alpine huts are always a nice experience with good company and great views.
Iceland Three Peaks Challenge
By: Graham Sparrey, Enfield, UK
Thoroughly recommend the Icelandic experience and this trip to all. If you're slightly sporty and have a decent base level of fitness but aren't sure about walking/trekking, just go for it. You will be amazed by the natural beauty of Iceland - even non geography geeks!!
I most enjoyed the education, variety of landscape and terrain and the team ethic involved in the trip. The holiday exceeded my expectations. I thought we'd be staying in tents and low provision accommodation. I was pleasantly surprised by the facilities and amount of food and provision! Our guide Siggi was first class. Made sure everyone was a part of the group. Was informative and made sure people were safe and comfortable. He added to the dynamic of the group and made it a fun week for all. A great guide!
I chose KE because you were recommended by friends who had done another trip with you. They had a great experience and so did we!
Everest the Hard Way Trek
By: Michael Jones, Flintshire, Wales
What can I say about Val? She is just about the most amazing person I have EVER met. She was really attentive to the needs and well being of all the clients and support crew throughout the whole trek. Constantly ensuring that we consumed enough fluids every day to help with acclimatisation, and that we always felt 100%. She made sure we all ate plenty of food, even when we didn't really feel like it, but knew we needed it.
Val was really enthusiastic and not only showed us the majestic mountain scenery of the Himalayas, she took us into the homes of her "extended nepali families", which was a huge cultural experience for us all. I will never forget the families we met. Overall, we could not have asked for a better leader than Val. Her experience, knowledge of the area, and personal friends she imparted upon us, turned a trip of a life time into a life changing trip. I cannot stress enough the huge respect and heartfelt thanks I have for Val, for making my holiday magical.
If I had to rate my level of satisfaction with the whole holiday, I would give it 100 out of 10!! It far exceeded ALL my expectations, and the memories will always live with me.Did I enjoy the holiday??? YOU BET!!
Trekking to Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro
By: Daniel Fryer, Lancashire, UK
Fantastic trip with brilliant support from all the crew. Pace was prefect food was delicious. Peter (the guide) was fantastic, his advice and level of English was superb, we had a wide range of ages in our group and no-one had a bad word to say about the was he ran his crew as well as us. I think without his leadership not all 9 of us would have made the summits. The warmth you felt from the whole crew, made you feel very welcome.
Brilliant holiday that I would fully reccomend to friends and family.
Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro
By: Ian Mitchell, Huddersfield, W. Yorks
The acclimatisation on Mt Kenya was a strong selling point - the only operator that seems to do this - also I got to see more of Kenya. A very well organised trip with excellent back-up and food throughout, I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
