Trekking Mount Mgoun in Winter
By: Gill Plum, Warrington, UK
I picked this trip because I'd done the Toubkal trip 2 years ago & enjoyed it immensely. I didn't expect this trip to be better but it was. A great little trip & highly recommended for a short winter getaway. Felt like I'd been away far longer than just a week. Excellent!
Tso Morari and Lungser Kangri
By: Peter Croudace, Ayr
Trek food was good as always although it'd be really nice if we got a I was impressed with Charlie Buscoe. Balances individual demands with those of the group. His assistant was impressive too. Impressed with Rimo. All arrangements went well. daily choc/snack bar like we do in Nepal. They should probably not serve the noodle pudding thingy as it's not popular (or particularly nice!). Trekking crew were superb. No complaints, they worked very hard and always smiled.Ringzin and the sherpas were excellent.
Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar
By: Gary Love, Tennessee, USA
The trip was fantastic, and the porters and guides made the difference between success and failure. I cannot thank them enough. Onex, our guide, provided excellent leadership and his crew provided outstanding support to all of us.
This was the greatest adventure that I have ever attempted. No doubt that I would have never made it without the support of the KE staff and the local support personel. Onex went way out of his way to make sure that I could contact my family in the USA while I was away, and I thank him very much. This was a wondeful experience.
It was way more difficult mentally and physically than I would have ever dreamed of. I was in excellent shape but there is no way I could have prepared for the conditions that I experienced climbing the mountain.
Kilimanjaro Rongai Route Trek
By: Simon Rainback, Poole, UK
Fantastic holiday and the trip of a lifetime. There were no major issues and overall the service and support for first rate. We will definitely be back (once we know what to do next!!!)
Eliasi (our guide) was a super star, he helped up massively when trying to update our charity face book page which is something that we were struggling with given the reception of our mobiles. Top top man. We could not have asked for more the entire experience and crew were fantastic.
Summit day was fantastic, although by far it was the most demanding. The trip exceeded expectations and also it was a lot harder than we thought it would be. I would recommend that people take an extra day either at the beginning or the end as you start and end the trip exhausted with all the travelling.
Iceland Three Peaks Challenge
By: Trevor Brewster, Leeds, UK
Our guide was top
notch! A very personable guide, we very quickly felt relaxed and confident with
Kristjan. The weather conditions and forecast for our week were not brilliant
and he was having to make some real judgement calls all the time in order to deliver
the programme and make it safe for all members of the party. This he did. He
took us down short of the summit on the first hill because of high winds, a
judgement we all agreed with. On the two big mountains (Hekla and
Hvanndalshnukur)he got us to the top in clear weather windows amongst what were
otherwise cloudy and often wet days.
A busy and interesting
programme was provided along with more than ample and interesting food. This
continued right through to our final evening in Reykjavik when we experienced a
good local night out. Most important of all perhaps was Kristjan's personality
and humour which really made this an excellent group to be with all week and
more than the sum of its programme parts.
I feel knackered and feel like I've been stretched in terms of my own
abilities and ambitions, perfect! Both I and my wife have had a really
memorable time. I would like to reiterrate my appreciation of our guide and our
driver.
Ecuador's Volcano Triple Crown
By: Duncan Coutts , Hampshire, UK
Eddie (our leader) in particular made the trip what it was - excellent guide because he could do city /all round Ecuador ambassador / flora & fauna type tour leading and then switch to mountain leader when necessary. Really cheerful personality! The local agents as a whole were pretty organised and had the resources to made it all work.
Everest the Hard Way Trek
By: Graham Breen, Cardiff, Wales
The route of the trip was great and it was a pleasure to leave the main drag and head somewhat off the beaten track. This led to a true feeling of peacefulness and solitude which is of course one of the things to look for when heading into the mountains.
Kilimanjaro Trek and Safari
By: Louise Tomlinson, Derbyshire, UK
The guides and support crew on our trek were fantastic. They were knowledgeable and friendly and we felt safe in their hands at high altitude.
Our trip leader, Peter, was fantastic. He clearly cared about the well being of his team, and about ensuring we had a safe and enjoyable trip. His enthusiasm and encouragement for our group was tireless. We felt safe in his hands during our summit attempt - he was clearly very knowledgeable and experienced about altitude sickness & took good care of those of us who became unwell during the trek. Following Peter's lead and advice and that of the other guides ensured that we all made it to the top!The food was great, it far exceeded my expectations of what would be possible to prepare on a trek.
The standard of accommodation once coming off the mountain was far higher than I expected from the trip information - it was a nice surprise. I wasn't expecting showers, toilets and beds which felt very luxurious after a week in small tents with limited means of washing!
The tent accommodation in the Tarangire national park was a lovely surprise after a week on the mountain - very luxurious! The safari was brilliant - the tented lodges were great, and the safari experience far surpassed my expectations - we felt we had seen as much as we possibly could in the last 3 days of our holiday.
I saw the shop during a trip to Keswick and remembered it when looking into booking the trip. I liked the option of doing the trek up Kilimanjaro over a longer time than other companies offered and the fact that this increased the chances of making it to the summit.
Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route Trek
By: Sandra Nixon, Liverpool, UK
I thought the overall schedule was excellent. It allowed everyone to adapt to the altitude. The pace and length of walks each day was ideal. The different walks each day also allowed you to appreciate the different environments of Kili.
Our guide Elias was excellent. He paced the walks to our fitness levels. He engaged with us, build good relationships. He was open and honest, regularly communicating what was happening, what to expect, providing advice on clothing, in addition to making conversation. The service provided by the crew was excellent. The food prepared and served by James was fabulous. It met our energy needs to the day and there was a good variety.
Mera Peak Climb
By: John Adams, Edinburgh, Scotland
This was an experience of a lifetime during which I learnt so much about Nepal but also about myself. I'm already thinking about my next trip.
There are so many high point, but I guess the biggest highlight would have to be hitting the summit of Mera Peak in near perfect weather conditions. Also the team spirit of the rest of the group.
