Mera Peak Climb
By: David Davidson, Glasgow, UK
My whole experience was a positive one through the booking process to the organisation of flights and meeting the people involved in Nepal, everyone was positive and helpful - a first rate and a superb service.
During the trek from Lukla out towards Mera Peak I became unwell. The decision for me to return to Lukla was made and again the organisation was done with no fuss, I returned to Lukla where the local agent representative met me and organised my flight back to Kathmandu that afternoon. KE Adventure Travel then very quickly re-arranged my flights home. I can only say good things happened in the background to get me off the mountain and home safely and in a timely manner, it was good to know the back room support and concern for my wellbeing was focused in all the right areas.
Peaks and Passes of Nepal - Mera to the Rolwaling
By: Martin Plackett, London, UK
I most enjoyed the exciting summit ridge on Island Peak, the wonderful ice formations on the Amphu Labtsa, the views of Everest & Makalu from the Renjo La, the lakes below the Kongma La, the Omai Tsho sacred lake in the Rolwaling and Zomba's tuna pizza & chips!
,br/>Ade made some good changes to the itinerary, eg Kongme Dingma is a better place for rest day/training than Panch Pokhari, Scoundrel's View was a more interesting excursion than Everest Base Camp and it was better for members & crew to press on the Thame & have a rest day than stop short at Lungdung. It was also good to have a rest day at Na in the Rolwaling, and gave some of us the opportunity for a beautiful walk to the Omai Tsho sacred lake. And the bus pickup below Simigaon saved a lot of time, compared with walking to Singati. One further detail on itinerary: it refers to packing mountain bags at Khare on Day 10 - this should be at Mera La on Day 11.
Swiss 4000 Metre Peaks
By: Simon Fellows, Gloucestershire, UK
I thought our week together was absolutely outstanding, and I would like to thank Kathy for her endless patience. Kathy was a wonderful guide, always considerate, charming and amusing, but firm and authoritative when she needed to be.
It must have been a tough trip for Hugh, as the company representative, so I hope we gave you a break from time to time. Thanks for all the support and advice too, especially in the first few days when you were acting as Kathy's right hand man. Remember, you're more than just a beard Hugh, you have some wonderful qualities.
Climb Mera Peak, Island Peak and the Amphu Labtsa
By: Robert Gee, Cumbria. UK
The trek and climb was eveything and more that I had hoped for. I obviously felt elated at climbing Mera and had a great deal of fun on the Amphu Labtsa pass. In the event, Island Peak was an energy step too far and 6 of the group spent a wonderfull 5 days drifting down to Namache Bazaar with 3 porters we arranged with the sidar.
Tim was the best group leader I have experienced and I would recommend him for any trip .It worked well with Tamsin, both made the trek the succcess it was even having to deal with 1 mountain sickness and 2 voluntary withdrawals. Tim made it clear that it was entirely my decision to withdraw from the Island Peak and if I chose he would accompany me on the rope. He recognised what a difficult decision it had been.
Kilimanjaro Trek and Safari
By: Jennifer Calvert, Leeds, UK
A high ration of support crew to staff made a big difference on summit day, when there were plenty of staff to support various members of the group. Very well organized. All of the guides were great, I felt very safe and felt that the guides were very knowledgeable and looked out for people becoming unwell. Overall a fantastic trip. The local crew and guides did an amazing job getting everyone up the mountain. The food was amazing and the accommodation on safari was amazing.
Trekking Mount Mgoun in Winter
By: Maria Campbell, Durham, UK
This is a wonderful short trip and I thought it superior to Toubkal. Remote, good winter conditions and glorious ridge walking (we were lucky with the weather though).
The local agent was first rate, all the arrangements worked. Mustapha was an excellent local leader - personal/social and communication skills all of a high standard.
Kilimanjaro Rongai Route Trek
By: Bonita Enright , Epping, UK
Everyone from KE gave us all the correct information needed to undertake such a trip every mundane question I asked was answered and everyone was very helpful and friendly too. A great start to any trip.Everyone one the crew/team in Tanzania were friendly, helpful and above all very knowledgeable and we were literally blown away by the food which was being prepared for us each day. I have an intolerance to wheat and tomatoes so every day the cook would talk to me or prepare something along the lines of everyone else but totally tasty and sufficient to do such a walk on. I even had hand cut, home-made (well mess tent made) chips one night which everyone else on the trek was very upset about - so the next night the cook did everyone homemade chips too!
Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro
By: Zoe Benjamin, New South Wales, Australia
The holiday was fantastic. The climbs were hard and required alot of PMA (positive mental attitude), but were paced very well and climbing Mt Kenya first really gave us a strong advantage for Mt Kilimanjaro. Our support crew on both mountains were outstanding in every way. I loved how different both mountain experiences were - on Mt Kenya we didn't see another group until summit day, and it was a beautiful wild experience. On Mt Kilimanjaro it was fun to meet up with different groups of trekkers at camp each night to compare notes. Our trip leaders - Eddie, Moses and Onex (as well as Michael and JV on Mt Kili) were just incredible. I was really impressed that KE used local African tour leaders, they knew everything about the history of the countries and the mountains and were so supportive and encouraging. Brilliant men!
Trekking to Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro
By: Dawn Wicks, Penrith, UK
My main reason for filling in the feedback this time.. Many operators/trips/destinations/leaders taken into consideration, I would like to both thank and commend Elias for his expert leadership and empathy. Efficient, professional, personable, compassionate to name but some of his qualities.. I would love to see him nominated for a leadership award. Thank you! Huge thanks to Elias for his firm but compassionate approach that made my second attempt at Kili a success. And also to Mt Meru Hotel for those treasured hours of personal escape and comfort!
Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route Trek
By: Sandra Nixon, Liverpool, UK
I thought the overall schedule was excellent. It allowed everyone to adapt to the altitude. The pace and length of walks each day was ideal. The different walks each day also allowed you to appreciate the different environments of Kili.
Our guide Elias was excellent. He paced the walks to our fitness levels. He engaged with us, build good relationships. He was open and honest, regularly communicating what was happening, what to expect, providing advice on clothing, in addition to making conversation. The service provided by the crew was excellent. The food prepared and served by James was fabulous. It met our energy needs to the day and there was a good variety.
