Both Foreign and Domestic Tourism Rise in India

India's efforts to grow its tourism industry, both with foreign and domestic visitors, is paying off, as the number of people taking holidays in the country from both inside and outside the borders climbed last year, according to statistics released by the tourism ministry.

Foreign tourists arriving in the country reached 19.5 million, whilst 851 million holiday trips were made by Indians themselves. This marks the third consecutive year that visitor numbers to the country have continued to increase.
