Young Singapore girl gets taste of Mount Everest
A nine year old girl from Singapore has gotten a taste of Mount Everest and now wants to be one of the youngest people from her country to conquer the mighty mountain.
Young Minnal K Dhayalan trekked around 100km over 8 days, accompanied by her parents, to reach the Everest base camp.
The Family were accompanied by a group of three guides and some porters and were said to have averaged 10-15km a day.
As there are no records of who has reached the base camp, it is unknown whether Minnal is the youngest to visit there, but Yip Seck Hong, the president of the Singapore Mountaineering Federation, believes she is among the youngest.
The next stage of the journey, to climb Everest, requires participants to be 16, so Minnal will have to wait a while before conquering the epic feat.
No doubt her and her family will keep up there mountain trekking challenges in the mean time.
