77 year-old man to climb Mount Kilimanjaro
They say age is just a number, but you can't help to be impressed by 77 year-old David Jeffery, who has been in rigorous training for his expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro.
Accompanied by his two grandsons aged 21 and 16, he will try and conquer the African mountain to raise money for the £700,000 challenge to restore the Holy Trinity Church in Frome, where Mr Jeffery worships.
Standing at 5,895 metres tall, the Mount Kilimanjaro challenge will require the former Devonport Naval Base officer to embark on over 50 hours of strenuous and hard core trekking.
The ambitious climber, from Somerset, is looking forward to the challenge, claiming it would be ‘exciting to try to get to the top'.
