New Routes Charted up Mount Kinabalu
Two-time world rock climbing champion Yuji Hirayama and three other trekking enthusiasts spent 3 weeks around the top of the mountain which is 4,095m tall, finding new routes that would interest other climbers and trekkers.
The mountain is a heritage site so the authorities still need to give approval for each route and strict regulations will need to be put in place. However, the charting of 24 new routes is very exciting news for people who wish to climb Mount Kinabalu in the future.
The mountain affords spectacular views of Kinabalu National Park and is particularly astounding at sunrise, so these new routes will add to the number of great reasons to climb Mount Kinabalu.
