Pupils from New Zealand to head to Everest
The pupils are currently aged between 14 and 17 and started fundraising for their climb this week. They are hoping to raise $80,000 and are working hard at reaching this target, including organising an evening with Peter Hillary, the son of Sir Edmund Hillary who was the first person to ever climb Everest.
Not only are they organising the fundraising, the pupils are also organising the trek themselves. Both the principal and the teenagers have said that this is the perfect opportunity to get young people out into the real world, and the responsibility they have is a challenge that will help them learn how to achieve great things.
Although most of the organising will be done by the pupils, they will be accompanied on their trip by 3 experienced adults, and it is always recommended that you book through a trusted company who have previously run trips to Everest.
