| At 5894 metres/19330 feet, Kilimanjaro
is the highest peak to trek/climb in Africa and, therefore, one of the world's
seven continental summits. Although technically the easiest
of the "Seven Summits," accessible by most regular hikers,
Kilimanjaro
should not be underestimated. Whichever route you choose to
take, a height gain of around 4000 metres/13,000 feet cannot be avoided.

However if ever a mountain suffered from a bad press it would
have to be Kilimanjaro.
Stories of failed summit attempts, altitude
sickness and crowded trails abound - but it doesn't have
to be this way! The key to Kilimanjaro
is careful route selection and plenty of time for acclimatisation,
so you won't find KE offering the chance to climb Kilimanjaro
"in just 4 days." Our record of success on Kilimanjaro
is second to none: achieved by offering 3 different ways to
climb to the roof of Africa, using the quietest routes and
giving optimum time to acclimatise.
Kilimanjaro
- Rongai Route (9 days/8 days land only)
For those with limited time the Rongai Route is perhaps
the best way to the top of Kilimanjaro.
As well as following the quietest route up, our itinerary
has an extra day's acclimatisation on the mountain, when compared
to most other company's trips.

Kilimanjaro
and Mount Meru - via the Western Breach (13 days/12 days land only)
This is probably our most popular holiday to
Kilimanjaro. In just under 2 weeks you can enjoy game
viewing in Arusha National Park, an ascent of beautiful Mount
Meru (4566m/14,975ft.), which provides ideal acclimatisation for
our trek to Kilimanjaro
via the Shira Route.
Mount
Kilimanjaro and Kenya (17 days/15 days land only)
For those with a little more time this holiday combines
ascents of Africa's 2 highest peaks amidst a stunning variety
of landscape and wildlife. On Mount
Kenya a traverse of the mountain via the Chogoria and
Sirimon routes is a superb trek and provides a near perfect
acclimatisation programme. On Kilimanjaro
we take the Machame Route through luxuriant rainforest and
across high alpine tundra to reach the summit's glaciated
crater rim.
All of KE's trekking trips to Kilimanjaro offer:
- International flights, or, if you prefer, you may join
the group in Africa
- Full board accommodation and meals throughout your trip
- Optimum acclimatisation
- The services of a KE leader throughout you trip. (For
our trips combing Kilimanjaro with either Mount Kenya or
Mount Meru, 2 KE leaders are appointed)
- Full trek support, including tents, porters, and cook
crew
- KE's 21 year's of experience of leading groups on Kilimanjaro
- The chance to extend you trip to Africa with a choice
of options including wildlife safaris and time spent relaxing
in the spice islands of Zanzibar.
National Park Fees.
Kilimanjaro National Park levies a fee, payable in US Dollars,
on every visitor. As a result of exchange rate fluctuations
and occasional changes to the entrance fee, we believe it
is fairer not to include an "estimate" of this fee in your
holiday price. Instead we quote the up to date figure, in
US Dollars alongside, our prices.
