About KE Adventure Travel

Welcome to the world of KE Adventure Travel

30 Years of KE Adventure TravelWe love to travel, and no journey has been as enjoyable as the one we've taken from our origins as Karakoram Experience in 1984 to our present position as KE Adventure Travel, one of the world's leading independent adventure travel tour operators. Over the last 30 years, the KE world has expanded from the Karakoram Mountains to encompass all four corners of the globe, and we now offer an unbeatable range of trekking, walking, climbing, mountain biking, road cycling, winter sports, discovery, family and other adventure holidays . KE is your number one choice for classic treks such as Everest Basecamp in Nepal, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Mount Toubkal in Morocco or the Tour du Mont Blanc in the European Alps. Our record is also second-to-none on climbing expeditions to peaks as diverse as Mera Peak in Nepal, Mount Khuiten in Mongolia and Monte Rosa in Switzerland.

Children benefiting from money raised by KE Adventure TravelTo celebrate 30 years in the worldwide adventure business, we will donate £5 to the Juniper Trust Charity for everyone who books a trip departing in 2014 and in this way hope to raise £22,500 +. We plan to put this towards the excellent "Portage and Rehabilitation Association Nepal". PRAN is a home visiting service for families with children who have additional needs, from birth to school age. It was set up in 2001 and already has a long and successful track record of supporting local families in the Kathmandu Valley who have pre-school children with significant development delay or challenging behaviour. The driving force and director of PRAN is Mr Mani Shrestha who also runs the ABVK School for physically and mentally handicapped children in Banepa, a small town 12 miles east of Kathmandu. KE have supported the ABVK School for quite a few years now and every time we have visited, we have been highly impressed by the work and dedication of Mani. You can read more about the project by visiting the Juniper Trust website or donate directly to this project.

Who We Are

Tim and Glenn in Pakistan

In the early 80's, Tim Greening and Glenn Rowley returned to the UK after a period of travelling in Asia and decided to create a travel company with a difference. Since their most recent expedition had been to K2 and Concordia at the heart of Pakistan's Karakoram Mountains, the company became 'The Karakoram Experience'. Today, as KE Adventure Travel, that same company has grown to become one of the world's leading independent adventure travel specialists. In addition to operating an unrivalled range of worldwide adventures in 88 countries, the KE team makes arrangements for private groups, school exhibitions and charitable organisations. Whether you seek to walk amongst the world's highest peaks, explore untamed wilderness areas, or witness first hand the wildlife or culture of far-off lands, we have the perfect adventure for you.

History

History of KE Adventure TravelIn 1984, the very first Karakoram Experience group trekked up the Baltoro Glacier to the place known as Concordia, at the heart of Pakistan's Karakoram Mountains and directly beneath K2. During the next few years, Tim and Glenn led groups on a variety of previously unknown trekking routes in northern Pakistan and these became established 'classics', described in guidebooks the world over. From this initial success within northern Pakistan, Karakoram Experience began to expand its influence into other parts of Asia. There were forays into neighbouring territories, such as the Tien Shan Mountains of north-west China in 1987. Then, a year later, a first expedition was made to climb some of Nepal's 'trekking peaks'. By this time, we had set up our main office in Keswick in the English Lake District and this was followed, in 1990, by the opening of an office in Colorado, USA. The increasing demands for worldwide trekking, climbing and mountain biking meant that, although still significant, Pakistan was now just a part of the story. In 1996, we changed the company name to KE Adventure Travel, to reflect the global range of the travel experiences now being offered.

Our Philosophy

Polar Cruise holidays

KE's reputation is founded on a proven ability to provide quality adventure holidays that represent real value-for-money.  From day one, we have been motivated by the desire to take small groups of like-minded people to some of the world's most remote and rarely-visited locations and to provide an authentic travel experience. We have always strived to look beyond the tourist traps and to provide itineraries that include forgotten mountain trails, hidden valleys, isolated villages and deserted coastlines. By taking you right up into the mountains and close to the local people and their cultures, we endeavour to provide a better understanding of each of our destinations, as well as memories to last a lifetime. Unwilling to rest on our laurels, we continue to seek out pioneering new trips to expand our range of classic adventures. Recent additions include adventurous holidays in places as widespread as Burma , Greenland , Madagascar and the Polar regions . Places that excite us - these are the places that we want to show you!
