Keswick Mountain Festival
Dare 2B Inspired with 5 Days of Adventure at the 7th Annual
Keswick Mountain Festival - 15th to 19th May 2013
Ben Fogle, Chris Bonnington, Andy Kirkpatrick, Karen Darke, Paul Rose and Graeme Obree have all tested their endurance to the very core and have made us mere mortals feel as though ‘anything is possible'. They all have one thing in common this year; they (and a host more amazing people) will be appearing at the Keswick Mountain Festival for your listening pleasure. So if you want some inspiration for your next adventure or just enjoy living vicariously through the lives of others, come and be enthralled.
We are proud to be supporting the festival once again. Since January we have been giving away 2 tickets, in our monthly enews competitions, to see some of the Festival's most inspirational people.
Denise Kershaw was the lucky winner of 2 tickets, in last months competition, to see climbing legend Nick Bullock; who has an impressive portfolio of 1st ascents to his name. You will also find us at the Festival Village for expert advice on adventure travel worldwide.
If you are planning a short break to the Lake District why not time your visit to coincide with this year's event? The 5-day festival celebrates all that the great outdoors has to offer. With lake and mountain competitions, a range of recreational activities and a host of inspirational speakers there is plenty to keep your occupied.

The Festival Village & Adventure Base
Located on the shores of Derwentwater at Crow Park, the Festival Village is the heart of the Keswick Mountain Festival and is packed full of displays, demonstrations and taster activities for all ages, abilities and interests. The Festival Village is the hub from where many of the great adventures begin and the perfect place to get in the mood for outdoor action. Don't forget KE's very own adventure experts will be on site offering advice on walking and trekking, road cycling, mountain biking, climbing, winter activity and family holidays worldwide.
With everything from how to navigate, ticking off Wainwrights, river kayaking, rock climbing and hiking under the stars to running up mountains, swimming in lakes and cycling over passes or, if you want to try all 3, a triathalon; then this is the place to be. The legendary Latrigg Fell Race takes place on Wednesday 15th May with many attempting to break the record of 16.37 set by local Kenny Stuart in 1984. The popular Derwent Island Swim is on Saturday 18th May and is open to anyone that wants to have a go and for cyclists why not give the Keswick Sportive a go; there are 3 routes to choose from which include 2, 4 or 6 of the Lakes famous passes!
For those of you looking for a classic Lake District experience there are some great-guided walks that will give you valuable insight into new paths and alternative ways of getting to some familiar spots. Whether you're a confident walker or not, guided walks are a brilliant way of learning more about the history, flora and fauna of an area. The Lake District has such a fascinating history and it's variety of birdlife and plant life is second to none. With well-known local companies like Wandering Aengus Treks providing 5 different walks, one for each day of the festival, there's plenty to choose from; and with prices starting at £12.50 it's worth every penny.
The Tirol Mountain Hut will be the place to come and relax from the business and excitement of the festival village and activities throughout the day. Sponsored by Tirol, with their Austrian enthusiasm and energy, they will be serving up Austrian food and refreshments so be adventurous and try something new? There will be live music in the evenings and the line up will be announced nearer to the Festival Dates.
