South Africa World Cup
South Africa World Cup Special
Arrive in Cape Town by bike on our Victoria Falls to Cape Town biking trip . A true African Odyssey, this difficult bike trip begins in Livingstone, crosses Botswana via the Okavango Delta and traverses the dramatic Namib desert before journeying south following the tyre tracks of Ewan and Charlie to Cape Town. Our departure on May 8th gets riders into Cape Town just in time for the start of the World Cup!
Another side of South Africa is the Wild Coast... stretching from East London up to the KwaZulu-Natal border, it's a land of lush tropical forest hugging the deep ravines of river valleys that spill out into the lagoons of white sandy beaches popular with extreme surfers.
Explore this unspoilt area of coastline on KE's Wild Coast and Lesotho trip, and climb the highest mountain in Southern Africa, the intriguingly named Thabana Ntlenyana (3482m) in the land-locked tribal kingdom of Lesotho.
For the hard-core walker why not enjoy the views from the top of the Drakensberg escarpment with KE's Drakensberg Traverse. This dramatic escarpment rises 3000m above Kwazulu-Natal and forms the border between SA and Lesotho. The
top of the escarpment is rugged and remote, but we will provide porter support for the 4-day traverse from the Amphitheatre to Cathedral Peak. Camping on the escarpment has a real "out there" feel and the ascent of Cathedral Peak (3004m) is a true adventure!
Finally, for those who want to walk but learn more about South Africa's rich history, KE's Barrier of Spears trip includes trekking in the Drakensberg and the chance to see ancient San bushmen cave paintings, a visit to Isandlwana in the Zulu Battlefields and Rourke's Drift - immortalised in the film "Zulu", and a visit to the game reserve that single-handledly saved the White Rhino from extinction, Hluhluwe-Umfolozi. The trip ends with a couple of days R&R on the shores of the Indian Ocean north of Durban.
