Why trek to Mount Toubkal?
When is the best time to go trekking to Mount Toubkal?
You can climb Toubkal and trek in the high valleys of the Atlas at any time of year. Although Marrakech and lowland Morocco can get pretty hot during the summer months, the temperatures in the high valleys around Toubkal are moderated by the altitude and trekking even in July and August is entirely reasonable. Above 2000 metres, you can expect daytime temperatures in the summer of around 25 degrees centigrade, falling to 10 degrees or even cooler at night. During the winter, the temperatures high up, on the approach to the mountain are likely to be around 10 degrees centigrade during the day, falling as low as minus 10 degrees at night. Throughout the long summer months, the weather tends to be clear and sunny, with little rain. Between November and March there is an increase in precipitation and this usually falls as snow.
