  • Uplifting views of the Atlas Mountains

Wonderful trekking adventure holiday walking amongst the mountains of the Jebel Sahro in Morocco. Sandwiched between the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco and the Sahara, the remote mountain region of Jebel Sahro is the perfect destination for winter sunshine trekking. Our 10-day walking adventure holiday in Morocco takes us from Marrakech to explore the heart of the Jebel Sahro. We'll be trekking amongst rocky peaks and plateaux and through occasional green oases, where we find the red mud-built villages of the Berber people. Walking along quiet trails through a variety of spectacular Jebel Sahro scenery, we also have the option of trekking to the summit of the highest peak in the Jebel Sahro range, Amalou n'Mansour (2712m./8895ft.). During this season, with warm days and crystal clear visibility, not only are the walking conditions ideal, the views northwards from the Jebel Sahro over to the sparkling snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas Mountains are quite magnificent. An exciting drive across the High Atlas Mountains to the souks and snake-charmers of Marrakech allows time to explore this exotic city further. With a free day in Marrakech a visit to the bustling Djemaa-el-Fna provides a fitting conclusion to this classic trekking adventure holiday in the Jebel Sahro. A great way to explore Morocco.

We also offer some fantastic extensions which you can enjoy after your trek. Or if you wish to spend a few extra nights in the enchanting cities of Marrakech or Essaouira please see our Moroccan Riads .

Trip Guide

The maximum altitude attained on this trek is not high and we will not be camping much above 2050 metres/6726 feet. This means that no-one should have any difficulty with acclimatisation to the altitude. However, the trek does involve a fair amount of ascent and descent (especially if you opt to climb the viewpoint peaks on our route) and a couple of the days are quite long. At the time of our visit, the weather is ideal for trekking, not too hot. For most of the route, we are following well-established routes between valleys and villages which are suitable for mules and very straightforward for trekkers. On the ascent of the several optional peaks which we have included in the itinerary, we will encounter zig-zag trails on scree and some easy scrambling. Because this is a short trip, and at low altitude, we have only given it the MODERATE grade.
