In North West Slovenia on the borders of Austria and Italy, the Julian Alps are home to the Triglav National Park, named after Slovenia's highest peak and iconic national emblem, Triglav at 2864m. / 93569ft. In character the Julian Alps are very similar to their western neighbours the Dolomites with limestone towers rising above rolling alpine meadow and forests of spruce. This is superb country to enjoy one of the world's fastest growing recreational activities - snowshoeing. Based in the most picturesque ski resort close to the shores of Lake Bled, the series of tours that we undertake during the week will be flexible and will depend on the prevailing conditions at the time. The guides will make the final route decisions for each day based on their extensive local knowledge to ensure that we get the very best out of the week. At the end of the week the group will make a two-day expedition into the mountains staying overnight in a mountain hut. The trip also includes a visit to an igloo and a chance to relax and enjoy the special ambiance of Lake Bled. This trip offers an exciting and invigorating activity in a superb winter destination.
