  • A family adventure holiday in Morocco
  • Coastal camping and excellent beaches, Morocco
  • Explore Marrakech and Essaouira with your family
  • Close to home and yet so exotic

This superb family adventure holiday treks for 5 days along the coast of Morocco north of Agadir. This stretch of the Atlantic is wild, dramatic, remote and beautiful. Camping out amongst the dunes, we enjoy ever-changing views of headlands, cliffs and endless fine sand beaches. Travelling with a team of camels and their colourful drivers, and visiting villages en route this family adventure holiday is a cultural experience as much as it is a real adventure for youngsters and parents alike. Most afternoons are free for swimming and beach games, or simply for relaxing. The trip ends in the ancient and beautiful port of Essaouira which is a fascinating walled city where cannons still point out to sea - a reminder of the days when pirates and other raiders threatened this part of the African coast. Inside the walls of the city there is a wealth of shops and souks selling colourful djelabas and carpets, aromatic oils and spices, and hand crafted lamps and toys. Just outside the city, Essaouira's light sandy beach is becoming a famous destination for wind surfing and kite surfing enthusiasts. The trip begins and ends in magical Marrakech which never fails to entertain both young and old. This is a simply superb family holiday offering a different perspective on Morocco.

Running a select few of the departures in conjunction with our friends at Allibert Trekking in France, gives the holiday an international flavour and also gives you, and your children the chance to improve your French. Please see Dates and Prices for which departures are shared with the French.

We also offer some fantastic extensions which you can enjoy after your trek. Or if you wish to spend a few extra nights in the enchanting cities of Marrakech or Essaouira please see our Moroccan Riads.

Trip Guide

Is it for you? Suitable for children age 6 and up.

This is a family adventure camping holiday, with camels carrying all of our equipment. During each day's walk you need only carry what you require that day. The trekking itinerary should be within the capabilities of regular walkers and has been specifically chosen with children in mind. We have given this trip the EASY trekking grade. (Please note that this scale includes all of our trips). The trip involves coastal trekking with some ascent and descent on a variety of terrain from mule tracks to sand dunes, cliff top paths, and sandy beaches. We will be actually walking for up to 5 hours each day at a steady pace. There will be time for stops and the occasional swim. It will be very hot during the middle of the day, especially in August and this can make the walking harder, though a cooling breeze from the sea often ameliorates this. If necessary, we can arrange for tired, small individuals to be carried by camels for parts of the day's trek. The guide will speak both English and French, and the group may include both English and French families.

This family adventure holiday to Morocco is available during the Easter holidays, May and October Half-term and the summer school holidays.
