Our base for this exceptional family holiday in Slovenia is the beautiful Bohinj Valley which lies at the heart of some of the wildest country in Europe. Pretty villages, picturesque farmland, lush forest and rugged mountains provide a breathtaking backdrop to our 6 days of activities here. After an introductory day which combines Canadian canoeing on Lake Bohinj and climbing on a natural rock face, we take to 2 wheels and enjoy a leisurely mountain bike ride on quiet backroads. Next, its hiking boots on for a 2-day trek into the 'valley of the 7 lakes' below Triglav, with an overnight stop in a comfortable mountain hut. Returning to our lakeside hotel, a free day allows us some down time (with optional excursions). A morning's whitewater rafting on the Sava Dolinjka River, followed by a riverside barbecue, nicely wraps up this family adventure in one of Europe's prettiest countries.

Easily accessible, Slovenia is a great destination for a family holiday. With a comfortable hotel base and a variety of included activities, this is a flexible itinerary, generally suitable for active children of 8 years and over. Slovenia is at its best during the summer break and at May and October half terms.
Teenage Departure: For this family adventure, the minimum age is normally 8 years. However, we have designated one of the departures as a special Teenage Departure, in recognition of the fact that teenagers prefer to mix with their own age group. This trip, which is aimed at children aged 11 years and older, is indicated with a (T).
