Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Morning rendezvous at the group hotel in Delhi. Airport transfers are provided for those on the group flight. KE group package services begin with this transfer. We have the use of shared 'day rooms' to freshen up before taking a sight seeing tour of the city. In the afternoon we board the train for the 4 hour journey to Haridwar. Overnight in an hotel.
Day 2: Leaving Haridwar, we journey by bus into the Himalayan foothills to Rudrayprayag located at the confluence of the holy rivers of Alaknanda and Mandakani. Hotel
Day 3: Another day of spectacular scenery as we drive (5 hours) to Wan (2510m / 7875ft) . We take a short walk (approximately 1 hour) to meet our crew who will have already established camp.
Day 4: Trek through ancient oak and rhododendron forest, and cross the Neel Ganga river to reach our picturesque camp at Bedni Bugyal (3400m / 11,650ft).
Day 5: An easier day, descending to the village of Wan and on to our camp on pasture at Kanol. Option to follow the skyline ridge above camp in good weather.
Day 6: Trekking first through terraced fields of wheat and amaranthus we then follow forest trails to Sitiel where we camp on the riverbank (1750m / 5740ft).
Day 7: A longer day, through farmland and villages with views of distant snow-capped peaks. Overnight at Ghunni (2470m / 8105ft).
Day 8: We climb up through forest and meadows to cross a low pass, then descend to camp at the small village of Jhenjipani (2300m / 7546ft).
Day 9: Another pleasant valley walk, crossing small rivers and passing many waterfalls. We arrive at our camp in Panna in time for a late lunch.
Day 10: Climbing gradually we follow the ridge through more forest and out onto the Siyartoli meadow. We now climb to a camp before the Kauri pass at Dhakwani.
Day 11: Cross the Kuari Pass (3650m / 12,000ft). After a steep start, the ascent becomes more gradual through forest. Superb views of Nanda Devi. Camp on the meadows at Chitrakanta (3200m / 10500ft.)
Day 12: A short and scenic day of trekking leads downhill to the ski resort of Auli. Here, we meet our transport for the drive through Joshimath to Pipalkoti and our overnight lodge.
Day 13: A long (approximately 9 hours) and spectacular drive to Rishikesh, where we check into a hotel. If we arrive in time, we can watch the evening aarti lamp ceremony by the Ganges.
Day 14: The morning is free to enjoy this famous town on the Ganges. After lunch we will make the short (40 minute) drive to Haridwar where we check into our hotel. The afternoon is free to explore the bazaar.
Day 15: We take the morning train to Delhi, arriving before lunch. There is more opportunity for bargain hunting and souvenire buying. We have the use of day rooms at the group hotel to freshen up before we start our journey home. KE group package services end after dinner. Airport transfers are provided on this day.
