Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous in Tammanrasset in the early morning. KE group package services begin with the transfer to the desert where we meet our trek crew. We take a few hours rest and after breakfast begin out trek traversing a dry sandy valley.
Day 2: We begin to adapt to the steady pace of the desert, which is set by our baggage camels, as we ascend towards the high plateau of Tessa n'Genna.
Day 3: Trekking amongst impressive rock towers and domes, we search out sites of ancient human habitation, marked by rock paintings and inscriptions.
Day 4: Continuing via the Irgan and Idaghene valleys, we arrive at the foot of Jabal Tahat (2908m / 9541ft) and make the easy 2-hour ascent of this fantastic viewpoint peak.
Day 5: Today, we reach Assekrem and climb to the refuge of Pere Foucauld at its top, aiming to be there for the sunset, when the surrounding landscape is at its most dramatic.
Day 6: Our final day of hiking takes us across a rocky col amongst the Tezouiags peaks, with a steep descent to the last wild camp of the trip.
Day 7: After breakfast at camp, we make the short morning's drive back to Tammanrasset, where we have the use of a fixed camp site with showers. The afternoon is free and after dinner we transfer to the airport to check in for our homeward flight.
