Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Colombo, KE group services begin with single timed transfer to our hotel in Habarana. Afternoon free to relax or explore the hotel's nature trail.
Day 2: A pleasant morning's walk through farmland and villages takes us to Sigiriya. We check out this amazing rock fortress, then drive back to Habarana. Optional afternoon Elephant Safari.
Day 3: Today, we drive to Kandy, stopping off en route at the Cave Temples of Dambulla and at a spice garden in Matale. Late afternoon visit to Royal Botanical Gardens. Guesthouse.
Day 4: Excursion to Pinnawela to see orphaned elephants being bathed and bottle fed. Then transfer to the Kelani River for easy whitewater rafting. Optional evening bike ride. Guesthouse.
Day 5: Up into the 'hill country' today, as we drive to Nuwara Eliya, the home of Ceylon Tea. En route to our lodge accommodation, we stop off at waterfall viewpoints and at a tea plantation.
Day 6: Today, we have a morning's trek across the Horton Plains to the spectacular viewpoint at World's End. We then transfer to Bandarawela and our family guesthouse accommodation.
Day 7: We visit the nearby Benedictine monastery of Adisham and trek through the farmland and villages which surround the former hillcountry resort town of Bandarawela.
Day 8: Today, we drive to the Udawalawe National Park, the best national park in the island for seeing wild elephants. After settling in to our fixed camp, we have an early evening Jeep Safari.
Day 9: Back in the jeeps for an early morning safari, then return to camp for breakfast. Transfer to the Beach bay Hotel at Weligama on Sri Lanka's protected west coast.
Day 10: At leisure to enjoy the surf and the sand or to explore this interesting village.
Day 11: Drive via Galle and Bentota to the group hotel at Minuwangoda close to Negombo Beach. Optional extra water sports are available at Bentota.
Day 12: Morning free before transfer to Colombo Airport for the homeward flight. KE Group package Services end.
