After an introductory hike on the forested lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, this brilliant family safari continues with a visit to a village of the agriculturalist Chagga people - a super cultural experience. Then, after transferring to the lush and beautiful Lake Manyara National Park in the Rift Valley, we have an evening's game drive, with a chance to spot our first lions and elephants. Next, it's on to the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world's wildlife hot spots, where we have a morning's game drive amongst teeming antelope, zebra and wildebeest - and their predators, lion, cheetah and hyena. Moving on to the Serengeti, we can enjoy the real East Africa plains experience with 3 nights at a remote safari-style camp. In this game-rich corner of Africa, we have the best possible chance of spotting the 'big 5' of elephant, rhino, leopard, buffalo and lion. Then, for a fascinating anthropological perspective, we will stop off at the museum in the Olduvai Gorge, en route to our final wildlife encounters along the baobab-lined waterways of the excellent Tarangire National Park.
