Cuba - Buena Vista Biking

Cuba Biking holiday - Classic American Cars Cycling holiday in Cuba with KE Adventure Travel

  • Backroads cycling holiday exploration of Cuba
  • Biking to Salsa beats with friendly Cuban people
  • The faded elegance of Havana
  • Cycling into the old smugglers capital of Trinidad
  • Biking is the best way to explore this colourful Caribbean island

A wonderful cycling holiday around the tropical island paradise of Cuba. Biking is the perfect way to explore the island. Cycling on quiet backroads we explore a landscape of mountains, plains and coast. Our journey by bike through Cuba leads us through varied scenery with limestone outcrops, tobacco fields and the lush jungles around Vinales. Cycling to colonial Trinidad we are treated to pretty bays and sun-drenched beaches. Since the break up of the Soviet Union, in the early 1990's, Cuba has started to become more open and accessible. Arriving in Havana, the faded, but still glorious colonial architecture of the seafront Malecon promenade, together with the city's 40-year-old classic American cars, provides an unforgettable first impression of Cuba. Known for its cigars, music and dance and beautiful people, Cuba still sees relatively few tourists and all visitors are assured of a warm welcome. Especially those on a bike. We'll visit the mausoleum of Che Guevara and Cienfuegos too before biking inland to discover the fascinating Mogotes and Vinales. If you are looking for a relaxed cycling holiday with time on the beach too, famously laid-back Cuba by bike is hard to beat.

Trip Guide

SEMI-SLICK ADVENTURE. A mountain bike fitted with semi-slick tyres or a cyclocross bike is ideal for this Cuba cycling holiday. This Cuban adventure is unlike many of the adventures in our portfolio of bike holidays. Our intention was to create a much more gentle bike journey, which would allow us to explore some of Cuba's most beautiful and fascinating regions, at a leisurely cycling pace. By including a couple of non-biking days, we have maintained a relaxed feel to the trip and provided the opportunity to enjoy other activities. This is a cycling trip at low level (reaching a mere 700m/2300ft at our highest point) and it has no technical, off-road biking. It is aimed at competent leisure cyclists with a reasonable level of fitness. The daily biking distance averages around 60 kilometres/37 miles, with some moderate uphill and downhill sections. With our support vehicle being able to follow us at all times during the cycling, there is always the option of taking a rest and having a ride at anytime you wish.
