Choquequirao to Machu Picchu Trek

Book Trip

Traveller Reviews

The food was varied and excellent, well prepared and no shortage. Our leader had an excellent knowledge of area, history etc and was always willing to answer any questions. He managed to look after both the very fit walkers as well as those not quite as fit or young! He also showed the group several old Inca ruins that I'm sure other leaders didn't know existed. The scenery was excellent and the trek route was not on overused trails - we rarely encountered other trekkers. The camp sites were also situated in good positions.

I had no expectations since I had never hiked anything like this before, never used the company before and I was going alone. I would definitely pay again for the quality and organization received. It was a very good trip. I has a great experience, met wonderful people, had some physical challenges and enjoyed being outdoor and in the mountains exploring the past (Inca history) with a very well prepared company and guide.

This was a wonderful adventure; I did not want it to end! I particularly enjoyed the opportunity of seeing parts of Peru that were off thre beaten track (in terms of tourism) and seeing the great Inca sites. Ruben (Chino), Nilo and Alain were exceptionally well informed and able to answer all questions regarding history, geography and cultural aspects. The trek experience was superb, from the hot water wash in the morning to the excellent dinners in the evening.

The staff were excellent from the muleteers to the guides. Loved every minute, services were excellent and well tended to. Very enjoyable experience. Thank you

The whole trek was brilliant, as was the weather which added to the enjoyment. The whole team camaraderie from our group right down to the muleteers was very inspiring. Our extension to lake Titicaca, and the train ride was also very special and a lovely way to finish our holiday.

I had an excellent trip with KE before and was confident that everything would be organised well. We had very good service. The leaders of the trek were clearly passionate about Peru and keen that we enjoyed all it had to offer. They had a good rapport with the support crew which encouraged a feeling of real team work. I really enjoyed the opportunity to go to places that tourists who visit Machu Picchu don't normally go to. We visited lots of Inca sites and were the only group there - which made it even more special.

We have used KE in the past and been very happy with the service we have received. Both the trek leader and fellow guide were fantastic, extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their country and it's history. We found it to be an extremely enjoyable trip and it was well planned to allow for acclimatisation. Also, recommendations for restaurants etc were good and combined with high standards of food and hygiene on trek allowed us to remain well.

Everything was superbly organised, including the rainforest extension. You need something above 'excellent'  to describe Zak's (local leader) trek management. His passion for all aspects of the trip made it unforgettable. Zak was very ably assisted by Gabriel, whose pacing over the high passes was outstanding.  Thanks for a great experience !!

The trip met our specific needs of visiting Machu Picchu; but also seeing real Peru through a longer trek off the beaten track - with the bonus of Choquequirao thrown in.
