Equipment List
The following checklist should help you with your packing. As a general rule, you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum.
The packed weight of your trek bag (not including your camera gear and the items in your daypack) during the trek should be no more than 15 kgs (33 lbs).
You must bring the following items:
Robust walking boots
Gaiters
Trainers or similar for evening use
Smarter casual shoes (if your trip includes visiting a festival)
Socks
Trekking trousers
Smart trousers (for festivals)
Waterproof overtrousers / rainpants
Underwear
Baselayer shirts
Casual shirt and/or T-shirts
Smart shirt (for festivals)
Fleece jacket or warm jumper/sweater
Warm jacket (down or synthetic lining)
Waterproof jacket
Sunhat
Sun protection (including total bloc for lips, nose etc.)
Warm hat
Fleece gloves
Eyewear – Sunglasses
Daypack or camera-specific pack
Headtorch / headlamp
Water bottle 1 Litre (1 Quart)
Small padlock (to lock your KE trek bag)
Washbag and toiletries
Antibacterial handwash
Small towel
4-season Sleeping Bag
Thermarest or similar camping mattress
Basic First Aid Kit including the following : Insect repellent (DEET); antiseptic cream; throat lozenges; diarrhoea treatment (Diocalm or Immodium); painkillers; plasters/band-aids and blister treatment; and re-hydration salts (Dioralite). Glucose sweets and vitamin tablets are a useful addition.
The following items are optional:
Travel clothes
Spare laces
Shorts
Scarf or neck buff
Sleeping bag liner
Insect repellant – (DEET)
Pocket-knife (note: always pack sharp objects in hold baggage)
Repair kit – (eg. needle, thread, duct tape)
