Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Kathmandu. Complimentary airport transfers are provided. KE group package services start with the evening meal.
Day 2: We take the spectacular flight along the chain of the Himalaya to Paro. Here, we meet our Bhutanese guide and drive to our nearby hotel in the Paro Valley.
Day 3: Today we vist the Paro Festival and have a full day at this remarkable event. We spend a second night at our Paro hotel.
Day 4: We have an early start to visit the festival site for the unfurling of the Thangka, then we have a short drive to the start of the Druk Path. Today we trek above the Paro Valley to our first night's camp at Jeli Dzong (3450m / 11,319ft).
Day 5: Visit Jeli Dzong, then trek across the Jeli La (3490m / 11,450ft) and continue easily to our camping place at the yak herders camp called Jangchu Lakha.
Day 6: We follow a steep uphill trail to the Jangchu La (4180m / 13,714ft), then descend to our overnight stopping place beside Jimilangtso (Sand Ox Lake).
Day 7: A longer trek, as we climb and traverse to the Phume La (4210m / 13,812ft). A long descent into the Thimpu Valley leads to Phajoding Gompa and our camp.
Day 8: An easy downhill stroll through a forest of blue pine to the Bhutanese capital of Thimpu. After lunch at our hotel, the afternoon is free for sightseeing.
Day 9: Today, we take an excursion eastwards across the Dochu La, to visit the impressive dzong at Punakha. Return to overnight at Thimpu.
Day 10: We drive back to Paro and have the afternoon free to explore, including the option to hike up to Taktsang Monastery. Overnight in Paro.
Day 11: We take the morning flight to Kathmandu and transfer to the group hotel. We have a guided sightseeing tour of the city in the afternoon.
Day 12: KE group package services end with breakfast at the hotel. Airport transfers are provided.
