Discover the pleasures of snowshoeing in the forests and mountains of the Eastern Pyrenees. Snowshoeing is one of the fastest growing recreational activities in the world and the area of the Eastern Pyrenees offers excellent opportunities to get away from the crowd as only snowshoers can. Based in the winter ski resort and summer hiking centre of Les Angles we have a week of snowshoeing on forest trails and mountain slopes. Making use of snow shuttles and the Les Angles gondola also allows us to make an expedition to 2,000+ metre summits for panoramic views across the Pyrenees. We have also allowed time for optional extra activities including skiing and dog sledding. Enter a pristine world of quiet and calm with the stunning backdrop of the Pyrenees and make your own fresh tracks through virgin snow on this snowshoe discovery week.
Trip Guide
This trip covers a variety of ground from relatively easy snow covered forest trails to steeper mountain slopes. The itinerary will be flexible and during the week the guides will use their expertise and local knowledge to determine the best routes to take advantage of prevailing snow conditions and the abilities of the group. A suggested itinerary for the week is given in the brief itinerary section. It should be noted that in some snow conditions snowshoeing can be quite energetic and you should have a good level of cardiovascular fitness before coming on this trip. The trip is suitable for novices and also those people with previous snow-shoeing experience.
