Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel. A single timed airport transfer is provided. KE group services begin with evening meal.
Day 2: After a short transfer, we hike through meadows and past shepherd's cabins to Collado Gamonal and the Vegarredonda Refuge. Afternoon excursion to Pico Cotalba.
Day 3: Head west to a great viewpoint over the Cares Gorge to the Central Massif, we climb Jultayu, before descending to the Marques de Villaviciosa Refuge.
Day 4: We have a long and steep descent into the Cares Gorge, then it's downvalley on a remarkable cliffside pathway, to finally emerge at Puente Poncebos. Hotel.
Day 5: Today, we ascend the Arroyo Tejo to the ancient village of Bulnes, then onwards to the Vega Urelliu, and our refuge, beneath the spectacular Naranjo de Bulnes.
Day 6: Our journey continues south through a landscape of towers, spires and sheer rock faces. We traverse the abyss of 'Hou Sin Tierre' ('the hole without a bottom') and ascend the Collado Horcados Rojos (2344m.). From here we descend to the valley and the hotel/refuge Aliva.
Day 7: We make an ascent of Pico Valdecoro (1841m.) for a sensational view over the Picos. We then gradually descend from the high mountains, through alpine meadows and to the forests of the valley before reaching our hotel. Time to explore the village before our last night celebratory dinner.
Day 8: KE group package services end after breakfast. A chance to explore the village of Potes before complimentary timed group transfer to the airport.
