At the northern edge of the largely desert country of Botswana the magnificent Okavango waterway flows straight into a sea of sand - the Kalahari Desert. The result is a unique natural wonderland of fertile and often flooded plains, home to a multitude of Africa's most exciting fauna and flora. This world-famous wildlife destination is one of the main focuses of our exciting overland tour from Johannesburg in neighbouring South Afirca. However, we also manage to visit lots of other spectacular game reserves, such as Moremi, Savuti and Chobe, as we cross the country in our purpose-made 4WD safari vehicle. We also get to see some wild and wonderful landscape, like the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans and the unique Victoria Falls. Much of the northern part of Botswana is devoted to wildlife sanctuaries and these remote and unspoilt wilderness areas are widely acknowledged as offering the finest game viewing in Africa. This tours offers the traveller, photographer, birdwatcher and naturalist a chance to witness one of the world's greatest natural paradises.
Trip Guide
This trip aims to show off the best of Botswana's reserve areas. Travelling in a 4WD truck that has been specially customised for game-viewing, with floor to ceiling windows, spacious and comfortable seats and state-of-the-art camping and cooking equipment, we will cross the northern part of the country and also visit the town of Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. There are some long days of travel on sometimes rough and dusty roads, but there is also lots of time to chill out at camp and lots of included game-viewing - from the vehicle, on foot and by traditional canoe on the Okavango waterways. Whilst some of the camps we use are fixed camps with facilities which might include a lodge and a restaurant, in other places we camp wild on our own. This trip includes only a limited amount of walking whilst sightseeing and game viewing and is graded EASY.
