Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at group hotel. KE goup package services begin with the overnight stay at the group hotel.
Day 2: We drive via Irazu Volcano to San Gerardo de Rivas (1400m. / 4593ft.), the gateway to the Chirripo National Park. Overnight in a chalet-style lodge.
Day 3: A challenging day of trekking through the cloud forest on the lower slopes of Chirripo to "Crestones Base", the National Park Lodge at 3400m. / 11,155ft..
Day 4: We reach the summit of Chirripo (3820m. / 12,533ft.). Extensive views over the Cordillera Talamanca include the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. A 2nd night at Crestones Lodge.
Day 5: Making the return trek to San Gerardo de Rivas we take lunch before driving to the Turialba Valley. Hotel.
Day 6: A change of adventure today begins with a drive to Tres Equis for rafting on the Pacuare River to Siquirres. Short transfer to Guapiles. Hotel.
Day 7: By boat to the wildlife rich Tortuguero National Park on the Caribbean coast with an excursion to Tortuguero Village. We stay at the excellent Laguna Lodge.
Day 8: In the company of naturalist guides we take a boat tour of the minor creeks and canals. We spend a second night at the Laguna Lodge.
Day 9: We take a boat to Freeman, then drive to La Fortuna for a visit to Arenal Lake. We then relax in the Tabacon Hot Springs in sight of the firery Volcan Arenal. Hotel.
Day 10: A hike to the crater lake at the summit of Cerro Chato (1400m. / 4593ft.) provides an excellent viewpoint for the very active Mount Arenal. Hotel.
Day 11: We drive to Rincon de la Vieja and have a short trek in the area. Overnight in hotel.
Day 12: At Rincon de la Vieja. Today we make a longer trek. Second night at Rincon de la Vieja.
Day 13: Time for some rest and relaxation. We transfer to our hotel in the resort town of Tamarindo on the Pacific Coast.
Day 14: Free day by the ocean. Activity options include horseback riding, scuba diving, hiking, surfing and sport fishing. There is also a lively nightlife. Hotel.
Day 15: There is a single timed transfer to the airport, where KE Land Only package services end.
