Our mountain biking holiday to Turkey is full of eastern promise. The central Turkish region of Cappadocia is one of the world's most outlandish and historic destinations, with an extraordinary lunar landscape of amazing rock formations, it's also a great place to enjoy mountain biking. Making the most of the cycling conditions here in Turkey it's noticable they are at times similar to those found in Moab. As a result we have put together a unique and exhilarating cycling experience that most levels of mountain bike rider can enjoy. Our bike journey begins and ends in the wonderfully authentic village of Urgup and takes us on a jaw-dropping biking adventure as we cycle through a vast kingdom of towering fairy-tale chimneys, yawning sandstone valleys and rock-hewn dwellings. Each day we cycle to different parts of the Cappodocia region, staying in comfortable family run hotels and enjoying the local cuisine. Amongst the must-see sights are cycling to the underground city of Derinkuyu, Orchisar Rock Village, biking the beautiful Ilhara Valley and a cycling visit to the carved frescoes of Goreme. This is a biking paradise, good for relative beginners to cycling and a chilled out holiday destination for the more experienced bike rider.

Trip Guide

SEMI-SLICK ADVENTURE. Mountain bike the best trails of the central Turkey in the region of Cappadocia. This area provides a unique and exhilarating bike experience. Our journey begins and ends in the wonderfully authentic village of Urgup and takes us on a jaw-dropping adventure through a vast kingdom of towering fairy-tale chimneys, yawning sandstone valleys and rock-hewn dwellings. Each day we bike through different parts of the region, staying in comfortable family run hotels. This is a biker's paradise with many unmissable sights, including the underground city of Derinkuyu, the Orchisar Rock Village, the beautiful Ilhara Valley and the carved frescoes of Goreme. The majority of the biking is on rough cart tracks and paths, punctuated with short sections of quiet country roads. Semi-Slick tyres will handle these conditions well. Thanks to our vehicle support, this route will suit the occasional biker with a reasonable level of fitness. For more experienced riders there are options to extend each day and to include singletrack sections, such as the traverse of the Ihara Canyon, and some challenging climbs. The support vehicle is almost always available on this relaxed mountain bike holiday.  Average 50 kilometres (31 miles) per day. BIKE HIRE AVAILABLE LOCALLY.
