- Classic cycling tour from the Alps to the Med
This brilliant cycling holiday makes a true bike journey across the heart of the French Alps, the 'Route des Grandes Alpes' and most certainly ranks as one of the world's great cycle tours. Taking in some of the most famous Tour de France climbs, such as the Galibier and the L'Iseran, we also cycle over the Cime de la Bonette (2802m / 9193ft), Europe's highest paved road. At the beginning and end of this memorable cycle ride, we deviate our cycling from the main route onto quiet country roads in Switzerland and France to avoid busy sections. To cycle around 16,000 metres (53,000 feet) of ascent and descent through the most spectacular scenery in the French Alps is a real challenge and this Alpine road cycling holiday is surely a 'must do in a lifetime' ride for any Sportive riders and cycling enthusiasts alike. It is also now very accessible due to the many low cost flights going into Geneva and out of Nice.

Trip Guide
ROAD CYCLING ADVENTURE Our epic cycling journey from the Alps to the Mediterranean ranks amongst the world's greats. With 15,968 metres (52,389 feet) of ascent and 16,322 metres (54,255 feet) of descent over 686 km / 426 miles, it is a challenge. It is easy to spin on many of the climbs, which only average around 6/7%, but they are long and unyielding followed by descents that are often sinuous and always fast. This is totally supported riding - at the start of the day, when the group sets off biking, your kit bag will be loaded into the support vehicle and transported to the next overnight hotel. Apart from a fixed rendezvous for lunch, you are free to cycle at your own pace but the support vehicle is never far away in the case it's needed. We must stress that apart from the normal tool kit and spares that you would take on any day ride, you will not be required to carry any luggage. Stunning scenery, atmospheric overnight accommodation and a magnificent route make this an unforgettable experience. This is not a holiday for inexperienced cyclists - a good level of physical fitness and stamina will be required. This cycling holiday is graded as DIFFICULT. Difficult trips are ideal for regular club, sportive and randonee riders and the route follows classic Alpine roads with major climbs and descents. Average 80 km / 50 miles per day.
