- With Mike Parsons and Pasi Ikonen
- Learn to drive your own dog team
- See Nansen's boat, the Fram
- Climb to Halti, Finland's high point
This unique adventure involves 6 days of polar travel, harnessing and driving your own team of dogs in arctic Finland. It also provides an opportunity to gain an insight into the achievements of such innovative Norwegian explorers as Nansen and Amundsen, whose polar exploits around the end of the 19th century stunned the world. Mike Parsons, gear designer and polar traveller, will accompany the group and provide a historical commentary, as we visit museums in Oslo and in Tromso. Then, we will meet up with Pasi Ikonen, an adventure racer and modern-day polar explorer who has recently skied to the South Pole. Pasi will be our guide as we are introduced to our four-legged friends, learn the basics of travelling by sled dog and set off on an exploration of the snow-bound Finnish landscape. Overnighting in wilderness cabins, there will plenty of time to learn from the experience of the trip leaders and also, perhaps, to see the Northern Lights.
