- Exotic Arabian Peninsula family holiday
- Dolphins, Camels and Turtles
- Wild camp in the desert
- Walk Oman’s Grand Canyon
- Snorkelling, kayaking and camping on the beach
Miles of empty beaches, dramatic mountain ranges and the sands of the 'Empty Quarter' are just a few of the highlights of this welcoming country. From Muscat, the capital city and a trading port since the first century, we take a boat trip out to a secluded beach where we spend the day kayaking and snorkelling and looking out for dolphins and whales - 22 species have been spotted along the Omani coastline. After a night at our beach camp, we will make the short hike to the idyllic swimming pools in beautiful Wadi Shab, before driving south to the turtle reserve at Ras al Jinz. With luck we'll see the females digging holes and laying their eggs, or see the baby turtles breaking through the sand by the light of the moon. Then, travelling to a Bedouin encampment in the Wahiba Sands, we meet our hosts and their camels and begin an exciting 2-day trek in the desert. We'll enjoy helping the Bedouin go about their daily business and sleep under the stars, looking out for shooting stars and roving satellites. After saying our goodbyes, we drive by 4WD vehicle to the oasis city of Nizwa, once the capital of Oman and famed for it's 17th century fort and bustling souk. The finale of this fantastic holiday is the amazing 'balcony walk' through Oman's Grand Canyon. Far from the glitz of Dubai, Oman is the real Arabia.

Is it for you and your family? Suitable for children aged 7+
The perfect destination for a winter sun holiday, Oman is a friendly country where children are particularly welcome. It also provides an exotic and culturally fascinating experience for children and adults alike. We have put this trip together with a mix of activities suitable for outgoing young children. This is an active trip, with plenty of opportunity for swimming and hiking to places of interest - such as Wadi Shab and the dunes of the Wahiba Sands. There will be the opportunity to try interesting activities, such as snorkelling, kayaking, camel riding and sandboarding. The toughest part of the trip is likely to be the morning's walk on the 'Balcony Trail' above Oman's 'Grand Canyon' which is an easy-paced 4-hour hike on a rocky trail. Fit and active youngsters should manage this trip quite easily.
