Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel. Complimentary airport transfers are provided. KE group package services begin with the evening meal.
Day 2: We transfer out of busy Marrakech as far as Taddert. Here, we begin with a perfect 'Alpine' climb over the Tizi n'Tichka (2260m), the main pass in the High Atlas, followed by a superb descent on great roads to our hotel in Ouarzazate. Hotel. Ride distance: 107 kilometres.
Day 3: A relaxed start with time to explore the souk before we start our undulating ride into the desert, crossing the Tizi n'Tinififft (1660m) then descending to the market town of Agdz. Ride distance: 68 kilometres.
Day 4: A lovely ride down through the famous Draa Valley, passing many small oasis towns and ancient kasbahs, before finishing at Zagora. This is the gateway to the Sahara, with the famous sign pointing out into the desert - Tibuktu 52 Days. Ride distance 95 kilometres.
Day 5: After a short transfer back to Agdz, we bike westwards on a quiet and excellent road below the Atlas Mountains to the small Berber town of Tazenakht which is famous for making carpets. Ride distance: 87 kilometres.
Day 6: We continue cycling west, beneath the foothills of the Atlas and climbing over a series of small passes, before a long descent into the remote town of Aoulouz. Now well off the tourist trail this area is famous for producing saffron and we stop overnight in a converted kasbah. Ride distance: 122 kilometres.
Day 7: Fit and well acclimatised, we now ride the hardest climb of the trip. Cycling on a quiet backroad, we once again cross the High Atlas via the remote Tizi n'Test (2100m). With 1720 metres of ascent, this is a superb day which ends at a beautiful mountain gite at Ijoukak. Ride distance: 110 kilometres.
Day 8: The final day of biking to Marrakech is not all downhill - but there is plenty of fast descent. There is an excellent view of Mount Toubkal as we cross our final pass before the town of Asni and we have time to check out the Djema el-Fna once we reach Marrakech. Ride distance: 92 kilometres.
Day 9: KE group package services end after breakfast. Complimentary transfers to Marrakech Airport are provided.
