Beaches & Baobabs of Northern Madagascar
- Discover Northern Madagascar
- Lemurs, landscape and laid-back beach life
- Meet the Indri indri at the Perinet Reserve
- Coastal exploration at Antisiranana / Diego Saurez
- Two full days on the paradise island of Nosy Be
With its distinctive indigenous wildlife and welcoming human population whose language has its origins in distant Polynesia, Madagascar is a land apart. Few visitors make it to the north of this vast island, where spectacular landscapes, endless beaches and much of that incredible wildlife can be found. Arriving in the capital, Antanananrivo, we spend a day searching for the biggest of the lemurs, the Indri indri, in a nearby park, before flying north to Antisiranana (Diego Suarez). Here, our exploration includes the hike to the lighthouse at Cap Mine, followed by a day in the Amber Mountain National Park, with its tree ferns, orchids, crater lakes and 7 species of lemurs. Then, in the Ankarana National Park, we check out a limestone reef formation eroded into jagged pinnacles and search for bats in the many caves. Finally, we take a boat from Ankify to the delightfully named island of Nosy Be, where we have 2 full days to chill out or arrange further optional activities at a beach resort.
Is this holiday for you?
This discovery holiday is designed to provide an insight into the many different elements in Northern Madagascar. We have a few days with day walks from the hotel and these are relaxed exploratory walks of 3-5hrs. Some walks will be through the forest, some along beaches and some through the dry Tsingy area. There is much wildlife to see, especially lemurs. The last 3 nights are spent on Nosy Be relaxing with optional activities.
