Beautiful scenery, butterflies, flowers (possibly past their best). Most enjoyed: The company of our traveling companions. Scenery. Being fed on locally grown/reared/caught food. Kindness of locals. Pleased by hot showers and obviously safe drinking water. The standards (Hotels) in Albania are low and to be expected, but it added to the experience. Great for meeting the locals and experiencing something of their lives.

Faultless arrangement of buses, jeeps, boats etc which was remarkable given the remote conditions. Mule luggage transfers worked well too. Armand was a real find - as well as a being a skilled and reliable local guide he was good company, intelligent and passionate about the environment, and added real value to the experience.

We were fortunate to have a highly intelligent guide, who spoke first-class English. He was not only excellent as a mountain guide, but also able and eager to discuss Albania culture, history and philosophy. He also paid attention to the well-being of the group. The walk over the pass from Thethi to Valbona was the highlight. I also really liked our stay in Kruja. I enjoyed experiencing the first two homestays, seeing local agrarian life before it disappears.

We were all delighted to be shown around Albania by Armand (local leader) as he clearly loves the place and knows a great deal about its history -political, social and religious, as well as a knowledge of the environment and way of life. It was perfectly lovely to go over the pass from Theti to Valbona because of the shade from the beech forest and the breeze from being higher up.
