Algeria's Hoggar Mountains Trek

The trek crew did a fantastic job with the food (it was clear that a lot of effort had been put into this), and with the general organisation of our camps and the transportation of bags and equipment. The itinerary and route were just phenomenal. I was really pleased that we were able to do the full 6 and a half days walking as this allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the area. Walking into the mountains on the first day and out of the mountains on the last day was very satisfactory! Fantastic itinerary, amazing scenery, and fascinating rock art. Trek crew were a pleasure to be with.

Superb trip fullfilling all my expectations. This was an "experience" holiday. The most important factor was that we travelled on foot so could appreciate the amazing landscape as it slowly unfolded. We did not envy the few 4xwheel drive parties which we encountered. Sleeping out under the stars was an unexpected bonus.

Ollie was great - friendly and helpful. Would be delighted to go on another KE trip with Ollie as our leader. It was a great trip - the scenery was breathtaking. It was nice being a small group so that we could really get to know the local guides and crew. I most enjoyed: The scenery, being in an area where few people visit, it was great to virtually not see any other people the whole time and the walk up to see the cave paintings on the last day.

KE Office and Admin of booking: Very postive - particularly phone access to knowleadge and helpful admin staff. The schedule was excellent as well - straight in ot the destination by plane and then striaght on to the trek was an excellent arrangement. Given the remoteness and conditions of the area the support crew did a fantastic job - the meals - particualry the lunches - we well prepared, well presented and plentiful.

The trip gave a fantastic feeling of remoteness. For most of the trek we saw no evidence of humans, let alone other trekkers. I most enjoyed the remoteness, interaction with the local guide and crew, the scenery, ascent of Jebel Tahat, sunset on Assekrem and the scrambling on the final day. Almost every hour you get different views, different geology, different light.

I particularly appreciate the personal attention I received considering I'm in America. Emails were answered expeditiously, and my time zone was given careful consideration when I needed to be reached by phone. Wonderful customer service all around. Spending time around the campfire with our guides and crew was among the best aspects of the journey. In that regard, we were able to learn about their language, food, and culture, and I'm happy to now say that I have friends in Algeria. It was also nice to be completely alone in the desert, free from other tourist groups. We saw a nomad camp on the fourth day, but beyond that we didn't encounter anyone else until the penultimate afternoon. It exceeded my expectations on all levels.
