Algeria's Hoggar Mountains Trek
Visa Information
Visas are required by all nationalities with the exception of the following:
Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Democratic Republic Sahraoui, Seychelles, Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia, Yemen.
Your passport must be valid for 6 months at the commencement of your visit to Algeria and you will need 2 free passport pages.
Please note the Government of Algeria does not allow persons with passports bearing an Israeli visa or entry/exit stamps to enter the country.
IMPORTANT: Please submit your visa application 5 weeks before departure. Visas are valid for 30 days from the date of issue, but applications can take up to 15 days.
Documents required to be enclosed with your application:
1. Two application forms fully completed and signed by the applicant. Note that Canadian passport holders are required to submit three application forms.
2. Passport valid for at least 6 months from return date.
3. Two recent passport size photographs (to be attached to each application). Note that Canadian passport holders are required to submit three photos.
4. A letter from KE confirming your travel itinerary and ‘tourist’ status. (This will be sent to you shortly after your booking is confirmed).
5. Your flight itinerary.
6. Guarantee letter from Algeria (This will be sent to you shortly after your booking is confirmed).
7. A letter from your employer confirming your employment and also stating the date you will return to work following your holiday. (For retired, self-employed or unemployed persons, it will be necessary to write their own letter stating this)
8. 2 copies of every page in your passport
9. A pre-paid, self-addressed envelope.
10. Payment (see individual sections below)
When completing your application form, for ‘address during your stay’ please state ‘no hotel – camping trip’ and for ‘In case of transit’ please state N/A’. Do not forget to sign and date your application.
Important – when asked your occupation on the application form, do not put anything that might arouse suspicion at the Algerian Consulate eg. photographer, writer, journalist, military, government, police, priest/vicar etc.
UK Passport Holders
NOTE – applicants holding UK passports must complete the application form online via the link below. Please ensure that you computer is connected to a working printer as you will need to enclose this form with your application.

A single-entry tourist visa currently costs £85 for British passport holders. The visa is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
You can also make your visa application through visa processing agency such as Travcour www.travcour.com Note that you will still be required to complete the application form online via the Algerian consulate website listed above.
The Consulate in London will process visa applications made by applicants who are resident in the UK and the Republic of Ireland only.
USA Passport Holders
From July 1, 2009 visa collection and delivery processes are now outsourced to ‘ABC Visa and Passport Services‘ whose address is:

A single-entry tourist visa currently costs $135 for US passport holders plus applicable fees of the Visa service agent. The visa is valid for 30 days from the date of issue and must be used within 45 days of issue. Note that the Algerian embassy in Washington will only accept typed visa application forms. Handwritten forms will be rejected.
Payment for the visa fee should be in Money-order form made payable to the order of ‘the Embassy of Algeria’. Please note that this fee is non-refundable if your visa request is denied.
For return of passport you should enclose a prepaid self-addressed envelope with an express US postal service, including an air bill naming you as the sender and receiver of the mail.
Canadian Passport Holders
The embassy of Algeria in Ottawa processes visas for residents of Ontario, Outaouais region and Canadian western provinces. Visas for residents of Quebec (except the Outaouais region) and Canadian eastern provinces are processed by the General Consulate of Algeria in Montreal.

Note that in addition to the documents detailed above, you will need to send three (3) completed and signed application forms, each with attached photo. (Please do not send copies).
A single-entry tourist visa currently costs CA$75 for Canadian passport holder. Please make your payment by money order or certified cheque (personal cheques are not accepted). You should make the money order or certified cheque payable to ‘Embassy of Algeria in Ottawa’ or the ‘General Consulate of Algeria in Montreal’ depending on your place of residence (see above). The visa is valid for 30 days from the date of issue. For return of passports, you should include a prepaid courier envelope bearing your address from any protected mail courier service company.
