If you are looking an introduction to Nepal Himalaya trekking then this is the perfect trip for you. Staying in lodges whilst on our eight day trek in the Annapurna region makes this holiday great for those who do not like camping. The holiday begins in Kathmandu, where we have a sightseeing day and city tour, before taking the short and highly scenic flight along the chain of the Himalaya to Pokhara. Here we start our trek on a quiet trail which passes through several villages as it contours around cultivated terraced hillside. Seeing how the people in these foothills manage their humble dwellings and farms is a fascinating insight on a world almost lost in time. Our trek also takes us through rhododendron forests with tree orchids and magnificent magnolias as we follow the excellent trails built to assist trade and communications between the hill villages. One of the highlights of the trip is the dawn view from the famous Poon Hill, followed by the stunning descent into the Kali Gandakhi Valley with the peak of Dhaulagiri as an awe-inspiring backdrop. After a night in Tatopani, with its hot springs and mini bazaar, we return to the charming town of Pokhara and have a day to explore its 'Lakeside' district and perhaps to take a boat ride on the lake of Phewa Tal. Presenting a magical mix of excellent trekking, friendly villagers and outstanding mountain views, this is Nepal mountain holiday at its best.
Is this holiday for you?
This is a short and relatively straightforward Nepal trekking holiday. We have designed this holiday to appeal to those who wish to see the spectacular scenery of the Annapurnas without camping and without great altitude issues. Our highest overnight stop is at Gorepani (2900m) and the high point of the trek is at the summit of Poon Hill (3195m). The gradual ascent to this altitude and the fact that it is not vastly high will ensure that nobody has a problem with altitude on this trekking holiday in Nepal. The distances covered each day are short, averaging about 5 or 6 miles. But, the hiking trails are either steeply up or down and in the lush forest the underfoot conditions can be slippery. We will generally be walking for between 4 and 6 hours each day. As this is a popular trekking route, the paths are good, and there are numerous lodges and tea-houses to show you that you are on the right track.
