Continuing our passage out of Muscat we take private transport to our first desert camp where meet our Omani hosts for the week.
Day 3: Leaving our camp on foot we head for the secrets of Wadi Shab. With a series of aqua-marine pools, fed by small waterfalls, we may have time to have take swim and explore the caves. Rejoining our transport we head into the wilderness of the desert and onto our Wahiba Sands Camp.
Day 4: Navigating our way through the dunes, across old ancient trading routes and camel trails, our guide will interpret the beauty of this harsh environment. When the sun is high, we stop to rest and enjoy the tranquillity of the desert environment. Continuing to make desert tracks, we arrive at the second of our desert wilderness camps.
Day 5: Departing the dunes, we head for the coastal road descending through an Acacia Forest arriving into the colourful market town of Sinaw. Driving onwards to the traditional fishing village of Filim, we prepare for the second of our Omani desert experiences.
Day 6: A short transfer to Khaluf delivers us to the gateway of sugar-white dunes which roll down to the Indian Ocean. Our day of desert serenity ends finishing with camping in a secluded cove and a night under desert stars.
Day 7: Our second day in the sugar dunes will hopefully bring an unexpected discovery of desert life. Within reach of the Indian Ocean, it is usual to encounter desert fisherman, trading their fresh catch of the day. Our walk today takes us on a discovery of the wildlife and culture of this nomadic land.
Day 8: Breaking camp early, we enjoy the last of our desert wanders, before rejoining our vehicles and head for the former capital of Oman, Nizwa. Renowned for silversmiths and it's 17th century fort, we check into our hotel for a well-earned clean-up and dine the traditional Arab way.
Day 9: This morning we will explore the history of Nizwa. There is free time to explore the fort or head to the souk and partake in customary bartering if you so wish. Transferring to Muscat in the afternoon, there will be a single timed airport transfer.
