Walking in the Balkan Borderlands

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Peja. A single, timed private group transfer from Pristina airport is provided with the local guide accompanying the group to the hotel. KE group package services begin with dinner in a local restaurant.
Day 2: A morning visit to the historic Monastery of Pec begins our Balkan adventure. After a short transfer in our private vehicle we hike through a number of traditional Kosovan mountain villages before descending into the beautiful Rugova Valley, famed for its medieval architecture . Approx 5 hour walking.
Day 3: Departing our accommodation on foot, we follow a panoramic ridge with sweeping views of glacial alpine lakes as we begin our ascent to today's highpoint of the Jelenak Pass (2272m). Making our descent, we make the first of our Balkan border crossings from Kosovo into Montenegro and take a short transfer to our accommodation in Gusinje. Approx 7.5 hours walking
Day 4: Starting our day's walk with a short road transfer we head to the picturesque Albanian village of Vermosh. Following an old trade route we pass over 1800m with glorious views of the rugged Prokletije Mountains. Accommodated by our Albania hosts, we experience the famous highland hospitality in this less visited corner of Europe. Approx 5 hours walking.
Day 5: Hiking from our guesthouse we cross through meadows and high pastures (1900m), experiencing the bleak and remote beauty of the Albanian Alps. With a short stop at the village of Vukel, our private transport will take us over the border to Montenegro and onto the capital city of Podgorica. Approx 7 hours walking
Day 6: Straddled between Montenegro and Albania, we take a morning boat journey across the clear waters of Lake Skadar. Presented with glorious mountain views and historic island churches we alight to join a trail from the old port of Kotor and enjoy fabulous views above this UNESCO world heritage site. Approx 3.5 hours walking
Day 7: Dating back to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, we make use of an old military route as we continue our trek atop of the Vrmac range. Enjoying resplendent views of the Bay of Kotor, on our descent we transfer by boat to the old baroque town of Perast before returning to Kotor for our farewell dinner. Approx 5 hours walking
Day 8: After breakfast, there is a group transfer to Dubrovnik Airport. KE Land Only package services end on arrival at Dubrovnik Airport.
