Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Yangon in the afternoon. A single airport transfer will be provided. KE group package services begin with lunch at the hotel, where the local guide will brief the group about the trip. After lunch there will be a guided afternoon sightseeing tour to include a visit to the iconic Schwedagon Pagoda. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 2: After breakfast at our hotel, we'll drive to Mt Kyaikhtiyo and Golden Rock, the country's second most important religious pilgrimage site after Schwedagon Pagoda. On arrival we'll board a truck which will take us up the steep paved road before embarking on the final walk to the summit where we can mingle with local pilgrims and soak up the special atmosphere. Overnight in a Kyaikhto Hotel.
Day 3: Today we will return to Mt Kyaikhtiyo basecamp and then proceed to Hpa An, the capital of Karin State. One of the highlights of travel in this part of Burma is the delightful countryside of limestone escarpments, paddy fields and caves. En route we will visit Kawgun Cave, home to 7th century artwork and thousands of clay buddhas. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 4: Today we will visit Mawlamyine, the former Raj capital of Burma and rich in British Colonial history enjoying the sunset view of the harbour and city from Khaik Tha Lan Hill. Overnight hotel.
Day 5: After breakfast we'll drive south to Thanbyuzayat, to visit the Allied War Memorial Cemetery at the Burmese end of the infamous `Death Railway` 3000 POWs are buried here. After this sobering visit we will return to Mawlamyine. Overnight hotel.
Day 6: Returning north to Yangon, we drive via Thaton Mottama, stopping off en route to visit the pagodas at Kyaik Hti Saung and the fortress at Hsindat Myindat. We should arrive back in Yangon in the late afternoon. Overnight hotel.
Day 7: An early start for the flight to Bagan where we will spend the rest of the day exploring the innumerable temples and pagodas including the Shwezigon Pagoda, the murals of Ky Byauk Gyi and the 4 huge standding Buddhas at the Ananda Temple where we enjoy the sunset panorama. Overnight hotel.
Day 8: Mt Popa, to the south of Bagan, is an extinct volcano dramatically rising above the plains. After ascending the 700 steps to the summit, we can rest at one of the golden pagodas and enjoy the views. Returning to Bagan we have another opportunity to enjoy the sunset from one of the 1000s of temples. Overnight hotel.
Day 9: This morning will be free for further sightseeing in Bagan. We may visit a local lacquer-ware workshop or the colourful market at Nyaung U to practice our bargaining skills. In the afternoon we'll transfer to the airport for the short flight back to Yangon where we'll enjoy a celebratory last night dinner. Overnight hotel.
Day 10: An early start for our transfer to the airport and homeward flight. KE group package services end on arrival at the airport.
