The following checklist should help you with your packing. As a general rule, you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum.

The packed weight of your trek bag while walking should be no more than 15 kgs.

You must bring the following items:

Walking boots

Sandals / Training shoes / Sneakers or similar

Socks

Walking trousers / pants

Waterproof overtrousers / rainpants

Waterproof jacket

Underwear

Casual shirts and T-shirts, long and short sleeved

Fleece jacket or warm jumper/sweater

Sunhat

Eyewear - Sunglasses

Daypack 30 litres / 1800 cu in.

Headtorch/Headlamp with spare batteries

Sun protection (including bloc for lips, nose etc.)

Water bottles 1 Litre (1 Quart) x2

Sleeping bag liner

Washbag and toiletries

Antibacterial handwash

Wet wipes

Small towel

Swimwear

Selection of dry bags (to keep trek bag contents dry)

Small padlock (to lock trek bag)

Basic First Aid Kit including: A broad spectrum antibiotic, antiseptic cream, throat lozenges, diarrhoea treatment (Imodium), painkillers, plasters (band-aids) and blister treatment, insect repellent, and re-hydration salts (Dioralite). Glucose tablets and multi-vitamin tablets.

The following items are optional:

Trekking poles

Shorts

Travel clothes

Camera, film, batteries

Additional bag if you wish to split your luggage whilst walking (see baggage allowance notes)

Penknife (remember to pack sharp objects in hold baggage)
