One Week Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group's chalet in Argentiere in the Chamonix Valley. KE Land Only package services begin with the evening meal.
Day 2: Walking directly from the chalet to Le Tour at the head of the valley, we ascend to the Col du Balme (2186m) and drop down to Trient in Switzerland where we stay overnight in a hotel.
Day 3: We have a 30 minute climb to the Col de Forclaz followed by a pleasant morning's walk to Champex via the Bovine Route, through forest and Alpine pasture. We then transfer to Verbier and use a cable car to take us up to our overnight accommodation at the Mont Fort Refuge.
Day 4: Today we cross 3 high cols, with spectacular views throughout. The highest is the Col de Prafleuri (2987m) beyond which we descend to the Cabane de Prafleuri (2624m).
Day 5: We cross the Col de Roux to reach Lac de Dix. We then make a steep ascent to the Col de Riedmatten, before dropping down to Arolla. From here, we have a short vehicle transfer to La Sage, where we stay in a simple hotel.
Day 6: We make a long climb to the Col de Torrent (2912m) and then traverse the Col de Sorebois, with spectacular views. A steep descent leads to our overnight halt at a hostel in Zinal.
Day 7: A steep but pleasant ascent on forest trails and through Alpine pastures takes us to the Col de la Forcletta (2874m), where we enjoy an extenssive panorama of peaks. Views become even more extensive as we descend to the alp of Chalte Berg (2488m) and drop down through the forest to the valley and on to the pretty village of Gruben. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 8: Some of the most spectacular views in the Swiss Alps today, as we cross the Augstbordpass (2894m) and descend steeply through Jungu to St. Niklaus. From here, we take a minibus transfer to Zermatt, where we check in at a hotel.
Day 9: KE Land Only package services end after breakfast. Depart Zermatt.
This holiday involves going to moderately high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 2500 metres. Most people will have no difficulty with this level of altitude but before coming on the holiday, we recommend you read the advice on trekking at altitude.
