The following checklist should help you with your packing. As a general rule, you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum.

You must bring the following items:

Hiking boots (must be waterproof)

Snow shoes (can be hired locally)

Trekking poles (can be hired locally)

Gaiters

Socks

Spare laces

Trekking trousers

Snow salopettes or waterproof overtrousers

Underwear

Long johns (thermal underwear)

Thermal baselayer shirts

T-shirts and/or casual shirts

Fleece jacket or warm jumper

Windproof and waterproof jacket

Warm jacket (eg. down)

Lightweight thermal gloves

Warm and waterproof over gloves or mittens

Sunhat

Warm hat & balaclava

Eyewear – sunglasses with side protection

Sleeping bag (minimum rating of –10ºC / +14ºF)

Camping mat

Backpack (approximately 40 litres)

Headtorch / headlamp with spare batteries

Basic First Aid Kit - refer to trip dossier for details

Sun protection (including total bloc for lips, nose etc.)

Thermos Flask (1 Litre)

Washbag and toiletries

Small towel

Antibacterial handwash

The following items are optional:

Trainers / sneakers (for use in the cabins)

Fleece trousers

Earplugs (particularly if you are not the one snoring!)

Water bottle (1 Litre)

Camera, media, batteries

Travel clothes

Pocket-knife (note: always pack sharp objects in hold baggage)

Repair kit – (eg. needle, thread, duct tape)

Specialist Equipment

Snowshoes and ski poles can be hired through KE for a cost of £55 (or equivalent in US dollars or Euros). Please confirm your boot size when making the reservation.
