Finland - Bear Trail Snowshoe
Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kuusamo Airport to the group cabin accommodation at Juuman Leirinta.
Day 2: As an introduction to and practice of snowshoe technique, we have a warm-up circuit hike of around 12 km. Return to Juuman Leirinta.
Day 3: Today we meet the dog team and learn how to travel with them. Overnight at Juuman Leirinta.
Day 4: From Puikkosuo, we trek through fields towards the Oulanka National Park. Entering the park we continue to our overnight cottage at Taivalkongas.
Day 5: Continuing along the Oulanka River through pine forest we reach the visitors centre and further on the waterfalls of Kiutakongas. We continue on to our next cottage Ansakamppa.
Day 6: We trek through forest and on towards the border with Russia. We stay tonight in a cottage at Jussinkamppa beside a hugh frozen lake.
Day 7: Our final day takes us along the Bear Trail, over frozen lakes and through forest. We arrive back at Juuman Leirinta for a sauna and farewell dinner.
Day 8: Breakfast and transfer to Kuusamo Airport.
