Day 1: We rendezvous at our chalet accommodation in Argentiere in the Chamonix Valley. KE Land Only package services begin with dinner. Your guide will chat about the days ahead and check out your equipment.
Day 2: Leaving Argentiere, we first take a cable car to Bellevue and from there hike to the Col de Tricot. We then descend to the Chalet de Miage and continue our walk to Les Contamines where we spend the night. Walk distance: 16km, Ascent: 1016m, Descent: 1698m, Approximate time taken to complete the day: 7 - 8 hours.
Day 3: We follow the valley to the refuge at Le Balme and from there ascend to the Col de Bonhomme (2469m). We traverse the Croix de Bonhomme, before making the gentle descent to our overnight accommodation in Les Chapieux. Walk distance: 18km, Ascent: 1537m, Descent: 1044m. Approx 8 - 9 hours.
Day 4: We leave France via the Col de la Seigne (2513m), descending into Italy and to the pretty ski resort of Courmayeur. From here, we take a public bus to Arnouva. Walk distance: 20km, Ascent: 1057m, Descent: 1061m. Approx 7 - 8 hours.
Day 5: We start the day with the climb to the Col du Grand Ferret (2530m) for great views of the Grand Combin (4090m) and Mont Dolent (3823m). Entering Switzerland now, we descend to La Fouly and from there transfer to the 'chocolate box' village of Champex. Walk distance: 15km, Ascent: 954m, Descent: 1115m. Approx 7 - 8 hours.
Day 6: Two options today, depending on conditions. We either climb up to the pass of the Fenetre d'Arpette (2670m) for spectacular views across the Trient Glacier, before descending to the village of Trient. Or, we take the Bovine Trail through high Alpine meadows. We then transfer to Argentiere and overnight at our chalet. Walk distance: 15km, Ascent: 1587m, Descent: 1572m. Approx 6 - 8 hours.
Day 7: Today, we take the path up through the Aiguilles Rouges Nature Reserve to reach the start of a ridge-walk that leads to picturesque Lac Blanc, with its Mont Blanc views. From the lake, we follow a trail to La Flegere with the option of a cable car descent. Overnight in Argentiere. Walk distance: 10km, Ascent: 1066m, Descent: 629m (with cable car option). Approx 6 - 7 hours.
Day 8: KE Land Only package services end after breakfast.
This holiday involves going to moderately high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 2500 metres. Most people will have no difficulty with this level of altitude but before coming on the holiday, we recommend you read the advice on trekking at altitude.
